Griffin Microphone Cable for iMic

Griffin Microphone Cable for iMic

Griffin Microphone Cable for iMic 08/20/2004 08:05 AM

prod_gb_xlr.jpg image

Griffin has added an XLR-to-miniJack version to it's "GarageBand Cables" lineup. I'm sort of torn on these products (the other one is an 1/8th-inch-to-miniJack cord designed for guitars), as they don't do anything you couldn't do with just a regular audio cable and a converter plug, but they are white, and that has to count for something, right? I haven't seen anybody do any testing of their cords, but if they are as high-quality as I'd expect them to be, $25 isn't out of spec for professional-grade audio cables. And actually, the more I think about it, these compliment GarageBand pretty well; most people that are going to use that program are just noodlers (I include myself in there) and probably don't have a need for multi-purpose cords.

Oh, and what's XLR? It's the three-pin connector that most professional microphones use.

50% Improvement in Frequency Response

Microphone’s Effectiveness for Meeting
Recording and Conferencing
01/07/2005 04:27 AM
Because of its high sensitivity, background noise suppression, and wide field of view, the Voice Tracker™ array microphone has proven to be very effective in picking up participants throughout a large conference room. Now that the Voice Tracker™ has a cutoff frequency of 11.25 kHz, talkers in recordings or in conferences will be more clearly understood. [PRWEB Jan 7, 2005]

When recording in noisy environments, background noise from video projectors, air conditioning, and traffic can obscure softer voices and people speaking far from the microphone. Public meetings are often recorded to assure accurate and complete minutes. This presents a challenge to microphone technology, since many of the meetings are held in large, reverberant rooms, where it is difficult to pick up discussion around a table and questions from the audience.Clallam County has met this challenge through the use of the Voice Tracker™ Array Microphone combined with SoniClearÒ digital recording software from Trio Systems. Griffin RoadTrip

Griffin RoadTrip 08/13/2004 09:06 AM

griffin_roadtrip.jpg imagePeripheral maker Griffin has announced the RoadTrip, a multi-function iPod unit that serves as both a cradle, charger, and FM transmitter with digital readout. While it's not the most attractive unit I've ever seen - the faux brushed aluminum and readout is kind of corny - just having a separate interface for the FM transmitter will probably make it a favorite for many iTrip fans who have found FM transmitting to be useful but the iTrip's playlist-based interface lacking. Even cooler, the FM Transmitter can be removed from the cradle and used, via USB, to broadcast sound from any Mac or PC, turning it into a sort of low-powered radio station, or an FM-band Airport Express (without the Wi-Fi).

imageGriffin Technologies has quietly put up the iBeam on their website (without the usual accompanying press release) of a pair of plug-in accessories that add a flashlight and a laser pointer to your iPod or iPod mini. The $20 pair of plugs (you can only use one at a time) come with caps for easy attachment to your keychain. I've no idea how good they are compared to their respective competitors, but I'm all about plugging things into the iPod - that's half the reason they're so great in the first place (and why its so hard for other companies to play catch up).

Griffin PodPod

Griffin PodPod 09/01/2004 09:36 AM

prod_podpod.jpgg imageGriffin's new PodPod isn't the first iPod cupholder - Belkin has one, as do others - but I suppose if you want to keep all your iPod accessories Griffin-branded, the new $10 unit is a good choice. It's a hold, for iPod or iPod mini, that fit in a cupholder. That's it.

Well, there's a place for the cords to spill out through the bottom, but still. At least they finally got that name out of the way. I wonder how long they've been sitting on that, trying to think of something to build that would match it.

prod_earjams_main.jpg imageGriffin is selling a set of snap-on covers for the iPod's trademark white earbuds called the 'EarJams,' that convert the headphones into in-ear versions. And although they come with three different sized plugs and a carrying case, pricing them at $20 seems like it might just be expensive enough to encourage people to look for a new set of headphones. I guess Griffin is counting on the cachet of the white earbuds to carry the day (never mind that you can get a set of white Sony in-ears for like $40).
