Cisco Acquired DynamicSoft, Hoping To
Lead The VoIP Market
09/15/2004 01:02 PM
Cisco Systems has moved to beef up its portfolio of VoIP offerings by acquiring Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) developer dynamicsoft for about $55 million.

The acquisition, Cisco said in an announcement Monday, will strengthen its position in wireless/wireline convergence by improving its ability to offer service providers improvements in next generation VoIP applications and services. Dynamicsoft's software products will be integrated with existing Cisco products like its SIP-based BTS 10200 Softswitch, Cisco said.

"Dynamicsoft's portfolio of carrier-class infrastructure products, combined with Cisco's softswitch capabilities, will allow service providers to quickly develop and deploy highly scalable 'subscriber-aware' IP communications services using voice, video, messaging, presence, and other real-time capabilities," said Cisco's Charles Giancarlo, senior vice president and chief technology officer, in the statement.
