$600 Wal-Mart Notebook PC

As a
back-to-school special, this $600 ECS-branded notebook from Wal-Mart
isn't half bad - 14-inch screen, Athlon XP-M 1600+, Wi-Fi (b), and
DVD-ROM. Add a little extra memory to boost up the 128MB stock setup
and you've got yourself a pretty decent little machine for browsing
porn and downloading term papers. Plus it comes with a legal copy of
XP Home, so you'll only have to go to jail for five years when you
blow that away and install XP Pro (don't quote me on the legal
specifics).

for under $500. The notebook has a 1.0 GHz processor, 128 MB RAM, 30
GB hard drive, a CD-ROM drive, 4 USB ports and a 14.1" LCD.
"The Balance notebook is the lowest-priced laptop currently on the
market to include a complete operating system and office suite,"
Linspire stated. "Comparable machines cost hundreds more even without
an office suite or software included."

notebook case
04/01/2005 02:29 PMLongtime Apple notebook carrying case maker,
Brenthaven, has introduced a new
shoulder case that offers users protection for a 12- or 15-inch
notebook in one bag. Unlike other 15-inch cases that can easily fit a
12-inch notebook -- although not as snugly -- Brenthaven says the new
bag incorporates the CORE protection system, which adjusts its grip to
accommodate different size notebooks. The Brenthaven Pro 12/15-inch
Shoulder Case has a twin compartment with a combination accordion file
folder and multimedia pockets designed for notebook accessories,
cables and files. There's also an all-new organizer panel with a
special iPod protective pocket and plenty of space for a cell phone.

notebook sales-
08/01/2004 03:30 AMAccording to a recent study by Current Analysis, unit sales of
notebooks equipped with a widescreen 15.4-inch display have steadily
continued to climb throughout the first half of 2004. As of June 30,
the widescreen market accounted for 48% of all notebooks sold,
compared to only 15% in December 2003. The growth represents the
highest share yet for the widescreen models since its introduction in
the spring of 2003 and demonstrates widescreen systems are selling in
greater numbers than its traditional square counterparts. [PRWEB Aug

far. Fast Company had a very interesting article about that a few
months ago: The Wal-Mart You Don't Know. The giant retailer's low
prices often come with a high cost. Wal-Mart's relentless pressure can
crush the companies it does business with and force them to send jobs
overseas. Are we shopping our way straight to the unemployment
line?...

New Wal-Mart Display
New Wal-Mart Display
09/12/2004 02:09 PMFrom Rebelscum reader JediJones:
Hi, the Wal-Mart in Hazleton, PA
got the OTC Falcon and VOTC display today but they put all the stuff
out to the shelves instead of using the display. They put out 20
Falcons, 18 VOTC Luke, 12 VOTC Han, 12 VOTC Obi-Wan, and 6 VOTC Leia.
I had heard different reports on the figure ratio so I wanted to
confirm it as this. This apparently includes 6 VOTC cases of a
3-2-2-1 Luke-Han-Obi-Leia ratio.
I've seen this myself at a Wal-Mart near me as well. And a buddy of
mine was lucky enough to score one of the the side panels from the old
display! Also, the entry/exit security machines have a new cardboard
cover showing
Star Wars on one side, and
Mean Girls on
the other. The promotional onslaught has begun!
