The new version adds support for the Firefox, Camino and Mozilla browsers, doubles its indexing speed from the previous edition, includes the option to not load images in the preview window, fixes a problem with incorrect handling of Web pages containing frames and more. This is a free upgrade for registered users of version 1.0; the full version is US$19.95, with a 30-day demo available. Mac OS X v10.3 or higher is required.

St. Clair Software has released HistoryHound 1.0, which searches through your history and bookmarks in Safari and returns matches ranked by relevance. It uses the "V-Twin" fast-search technology found in Mac OS X v10.3 "Panther" to return matches and includes a built-in browser that renders search results in a window when you click on them. You can perform simple searches, as well as sophisticated Boolean or include/exclude searches, and a hot key summons the search window when you need it. Pricing is US$19.95. HistoryHound requires Mac OS X v.10.3 "Panther" or higher. It currently supports Safari, but St. Clair notes that "other browsers will be added in future releases."

They are reporting that Microsoft have publically released Windows Update v6, now dubbed Microsoft Update. Users on Windows 2000, 2003 Server and XP have access to the web site after downloading an ActiveX update. The new update site supports both Windows and Office 2003 updates in one central location making it easier for customers to get a hold of the latest patches and updates available to Microsoft software.

Once at the website, you'll have to agree to download some new software which may take a couple of minutes, but once done you'll see the new version of the Windows Update website - although there don't seem to be any new updates on there at the moment. Windows XP users will have to have at least Service Pack 1 to use the site.
