06/22/2005 03:00 AM
AcroDialogs is a plug-in for Acrobat 6 and 7 that lets you easily create custom dialogs for PDF documents and forms. In a PDF file, dialogs can be used to create a document splash screen, customized alert boxes (with your own images and special buttons), and sophisticated input panels. All you do is drag and drop Buttons, Edit Boxes, Images, etc. onto a dialog design. Rearrange, resize, and copy/paste dialog box elements. AcroDialogs allows you to easily create complex dialogs saving hours of coding in Acrobat. [PRWEB Jun 22, 2005]

Travel Sentry: Save Money on Locks By

Travel Sentry: Save Money on Locks By
Letting Strangers Open Them
06/24/2004 11:13 AM

ts_generic_lock.jpg imageA new organization of luggage manufacturers called "Travel Sentry" has developed a set of combination locks that can be opened by not only their owner, but by agents of the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). Currently, TSA agents use bolt-cutters to remove any lock when searching through bags without the owner around, but by using a special code on the back of the lock or on a plate on the bag, agents can open the lock without having to destroy it. While the system may not be totally secure -- I'm sure at some point someone will figure out how to crack the key system -- locks on airline luggage are just simple deterrents anyway. If using a Travel Sentry lock will stop the TSA agents from snapping your padlock off every time they do a random check, so much the better. Travel Sentry will even replace a compliant lock if broken by the TSA.

Mount Remote Folders in Windows

Mount Remote Folders in Windows 02/10/2004 02:49 AM

How to Create and Manipulate NTFS Junction Points: This is awfully handy. It allows you to map a drive, but map it to a local folder, instead of using a drive letter. So as you traverse your directory tree, you could drop into a remote folder that appears it be local. Very Linux-ish.

You can surpass the 26 drive letter limitation by using NTFS junction points. By using junction points, you can graft a target folder onto another NTFS folder or "mount" a volume onto an NTFS junction point. Junction points are transparent to programs.

Via asymptomatic.net, the author of which I still haven't forgiven for diss ing Firebird (but, he did get me to subscribe to his blog, so I've been skillfully manipulated nonetheless...)
