Apple Finalizes iDisk WebDAV Migration

Apple Finalizes iDisk WebDAV Migration

Apple Finalizes iDisk WebDAV Migration 11/06/2003 12:20 PM

In an email to .Mac members, Apple has announced that on December 2, 2003, iDisks will have coverted completely to WebDAV protocol. This means that OS 9 users will no longer be able to use the Finder to connect but will instead need to use a third party WebDAV client. OS X has WebDAV capabilities built in, so OS X users should notice no change. On December 2, affected users (those using OS 9) will be able to download files from the iDisk but will not be able to upload. On Janary 20, 2004, however, the only protocol that will access the iDisk will be WebDAV and all OS 9 access will need to be with a WebDAV client. Goliath is a free, open-source WebDAV client, and is recommended by Apple for those who are still running OS 9.

OS 9 iDisk support to end

OS 9 iDisk support to end 11/14/2003 04:07 PM
Starting in December of this year, Apple will limit support for iDisk in OS 9. As of December 2, OS 9 users will be able to download, but not upload, files on iDisk servers. By January 20, 2004, Apple will completely disable iDisk access from OS 9 users. The reason for the move is that iDisk is being converted to the WebDAV protocol, which is not supported natively by OS 9. Apple recommends that users of OS 9 migrate to OS X if possible, or start using third party software called Goliath...
