washingtonpost.com - KARACHI, Pakistan, Aug. 5 -- The Pakistani military is waging an intense operation against potential al Qaeda hideouts along the border with Afghanistan and pushing the fighters into more vulnerable urban areas. In turn, Pakistani authorities said Thursday, the military has been able to zero in on al Qaeda suspects with a new urgency, employing sophisticated U.S. eavesdropping technology and computerized identification systems.
