Symantec has also warned about a second vulnerability in a Windows
component called "LoadImage" that is used to load desktop icons,
cursors, or bitmap images. A flaw in the way LoadImage processes image
files could allow malicious hackers to use specially crafted images to
trigger an overflow and place their own code on vulnerable machines.
Images that trigger the flaw could be sent in e-mail messages or
downloaded from Web pages controlled by the hackers, Symantec
said.

Internet Explorer?
Firefox has more security holes than
Internet Explorer?
08/07/2004 01:28 PMAs crazy as the title of this news post may sound, it's true to some
extent. Mozilla Firefox has managed to rack up 10 security holes in 4
months compared to 7 security holes in Internet Explorer within 4
months. The statistics show that having a product that isn't used by
1000s makes it "more secure" as less hackers/spammers need
to attack it.
As the release of XPSP2 has just finished up we should see less IE
holes over the coming months but if this trend contines then where
will Firefox be in 6 months time?

community than the security flaws the patches were designed to
overcome.

06/26/2004 04:31 AMFirst of all I caution all of you that are not computer experts to
proceed at your own risk. It appears Microsoft is reporting that if
you have Service Pack 2 Release Candidate 2 installed you can merrily
surf along with Internet Explorer.
Bur the 2nd service pack for Windows XP is just that a release
candidate still under test and while it probably would not break your
installation of windows it could screw up a some of your programs.
Companies that are affected by changes to XP from the service pack are
rushing to update their products so that they can be ready when
Microsoft releases the Service Pack for the average user. [M
