10th-century Japanese text "The Pillow
Book" becomes a bl0g
07/27/2004 12:25 AMA blogger named
Simon
Cozens is translating the
classic
Japanese text The Pillow Book (Makura no Soshi) by
Sei
Shonagon into English and republishing it as a blog. It's easy to
forget the fact that these words were written in the tenth century,
because the results in this format read -- well, rather like a blog.
Some dates are fictitous, and some liberties have been taken to
produce a coherent narrative stream in blog format -- but the content
is purported to be a faithful translation of the original. Since I
speak neither contemporary nor classical Japanese, I'll have to take
this blogger (or someone wiser)'s word for it. And no, I'm sorry --
Ewan McGregor has nothing
to do with this one.

06/05/2005 11:19 PMAs xSPs struggle to reduce cost and stay one step ahead of the
market’s maturation many are seeking an answer. With any market
industrialization occurs and today this means automation. Only those
service providers that automate will remain competitive and viable for
their shareholders and customers – failing to automate is suicidal.

cool experiment in blogging/journalism by someone who has a lot of

this.
This is an experiment in interactive,
participatory journalism. And in the new age of internet web-blogging,
we are ALL journalists.

non-partisan. It seeks to generate interest and debate about North

growing blogosphere:
Mainly composed of weblogs, Filmica project was born to
become an open
platform devoted to the present and future of the film and TV
industries,
collaborating the dialogue and extracting the knowledge from the
information that is flowing on many spaces.
Each weblog is a personal site where authors freely write and comment
about
topics of their interest. Directors, producers, script-writers,
journalists, proffessionals and fans will have their weblog installed
and ready for them to write, freely. No computer skills required. At
this moment, Filmica.com is at beta stage, finishing some adjustments
and designs. The official opening is expected at the begining of 2004.
People interested to open a weblog in Filmica should send an e-mail to
weblogs@filmica.com, describing who the author is and what the
subject of the weblog will be. The proposals will be reviewed.

MSN Japan to offer Blog service
MSN Japan to offer Blog service
08/05/2004 12:17 AMThanks SYBOLD. According to the report at Reuters,
MSN Japan, joining hands with local content provider, T.O.S Co. Ltd.,
will launch a Blogging service by next week.
The Blogging culture has in deed made its impression to Microsoft's
chairman, Bill Gates whom hinted not long ago that he too, could start
blogging. MSN hopes to compete with Google's Blogger and
expected one million users in the first year.
Apart from supporting the overwhelming demands in the country where 9
out of 10 houses are web-enabled, MSN Japan is also hoping to use this
service as advertising medium.
"Magazines, for example, cannot hit a break-even point if the
circulation is below 100,000. We target one million users to be
recognized as an effective advertising vehicle," said MSN Japan
GM, Yoshie Furukawa.
The service, according to Furukawa, will differentiate from others by
supporting mobile devices to allow users to read or update their blog
on mobile phones.
It is still unclear whether the service will also be offered in other
countries.

Enbee.com - Upcoming Korean Blog Service
Enbee.com - Upcoming Korean Blog Service
08/13/2004 06:17 PM
Blogging is hot in Korea right now and Enbee is
a hot Korean blogging service provider which will open it's doors
in September.
While they are planning to provide a wide range of blogging
services, including a
feature that allows bloggers to publish their own newspaper (sounds
familiar, no?), their
link blogging feature has been getting some notice lately.
Suman at Enbee setup an
example link
blog for me to take a look. Frankly, I don't see myself
using it (too lazy
to keep up two blogs), but I think substantial percentage of
bloggers will prefer
to have link blogs over the kind that requires them to express
their personal opinions.
In Korea, young folks are not encouraged to speak their mind in
front of elders because
a) it's immodest, b) it's what elders are suppose to do, c)
they don't know jack
shit, and d) they are more obsessed with saying the right thing
than saying what they
think.
So, I think link blogs in Korea will do well since link bloggers
can be helpful to
others without the danger of saying too much. As for me, I
consider my blogging
habit a sort of mental exhibitionist fetish so link blogging won't
deliver enough
juice to me.
