Mathematica Supports 64-bit Addressing

Mathematica Supports 64-bit Addressing 06/22/2005 02:55 AM
Wolfram Research, Inc., maker of Mathematica™, has always been quick to support the latest version of Mac OS. With the release of Tiger, Wolfram is providing a Spotlight plug-in and Automator actions, but the biggest and perhaps most significant change for Mathematica is support for 64-bit memory addressing. And that means much more than just greater speed and performance — in fact, 64-bit addressing made possible by Tiger opens up a whole new realm of problems that can now be solved. [Jun 21, 2005]

Mathematica
07/21/2004 09:16 AM
Developer Wolfram Research has released GUIKit, a free development environment for creating graphical user interfaces (GUIs) that can be implemented in a wide variety of ways. GUIKit is used with Mathematica -- Wolfram's software that offers high-end number crunching, data analysis and other functions required by those in technical fields -- to create GUIs that can be deployed as stand-alone client applications or as part of Mathematica's functionality. GUIKit requires Mathematica 5.0 or higher and will be included in future releases of the software; in the meantime, it can be downloaded from the Wolfram Web site.

If you already use Mathematica, you should upgrade to version 5 -- the speed improvements alone are reason enough. The program's overhauled matrix operations make Mathematica competitive with Matlab on most engineering matrix problems, and new solvers for business problems will prove valuable in financial modeling. German company RapidSolution Software has released the Windows software Tunebite. Music tracks purchased from the Internet are copy-protected and involve important restrictions for many users when they are played back. With the option to re-record them while they are played, Tunebite legally provides the user with new music files without restrictions. This ensures that music bought from Apple iTunes, Sony Connect, AOL or other music platforms in the Internet can be played back and listened to from everywhere. [PRWEB Sep 13, 2004]
