If I was into the stock market - which I'm not - I'd buy Motorola right now.

I've rece ntly written about their new CTO, they bought a UWB company, Russell Beattie likes them and now they're announcing a Wifi phone.

Isn't that enough evidence of what's up? If not - check this out....

Moto is a server-side scripting language much like PHP or ColdFusion. The difference between Moto and other server-side scripting languages is that Moto pages can run interpreted (like PHP) or be natively compiled into dynamically loadable Apache modules (an entire Web site could be compiled into one .so file). It comes with a full suite of objects and functions for state and session management, MySQL database connectivity, and a slew of utility classes like stacks, hashtables, string buffers, etc. There is also an included interface definition language for exposing C functions to Moto. All object allocation occurs in a shared memory segment, so maintaining state in objects between page views is a snap.

The Return of Elektro The Moto-Man

The Return of Elektro The Moto-Man 08/22/2004 01:46 AM
Westinhouse created Elektro, a 300 pound mechanical robot, to impress visitors at the 1939 World's Fair. Electro, aka the Moto-Man, could walk, talk, smoked heavily, and had a robot dog named sparko. The robot made many public appearances in the following years and became the standard by which future robots would be judged. A Dailycamera.com story gives the rest of the robots history. Eventually Elektro was retired. It's head was removed and given away as a prize at a retirement party. The headless body vanished - until recently when it was discovered in the back of an old Westinhouse truck purchased at an auction. The head and body have now been reunited by Jack Weeks, who is restoring the robot. Elektro will be publicly exhibited at the Mansfield Memorial Museum in Mansfield, Ohio during September.

This was rumored for a long time, but the announcement of a partnership brings us back to the initial rumor: A cellphone that plays iTunes music from a Flash based card while syncing with your iCal and Address Book. Maybe even looking like the Moto Razor… sweet.

The idea of an iPod-style interface on a phone is superbly compelling and perhaps Motorola and Apple can come up with a business model that will recompense the operators for letting the music in from the PC. By PhoneContent.com (via MyAppleMenu)
