Hodges and many other Mail users are turning to other alternatives to manage their junk mail and still use Apple's Mail application, despite its un-repaired problems. To the rescue has come a number of third-party spam filters that work together with Apple Mail using an AppleScript command, which sends a mail message to the separate filter to be checked. The mail is then re-routed back to Mail using AppleScript to be deposited in either a junk mail folder or in a regular e-mail in-box.

Quite an action-packed day yesterday. I did two keynotes, at two separate events. After the second one, I went back to the first event, a gathering of about 125 people who run libraries and museums, because I'm trying to write some stuff about metadata and taxonomies. I learned, for example, that one well-known art museum has had to create over 300 new Dewey Decimal categories for illustrated manuscripts ... and one for astrology. Andrew Anker Joins Six Apart. My friend and past co-worker Andrew Anker has taken a role at Six Apart as EVP, Corp. Dev. This means a lot to me, not only am I a big fan of both AA and SA, I take it as a sign that SA is getting serious about building out their a platform to grow as this nascent industry grows, and that's a good thing. There is tons of work to be done on both the revenue and product side of blogging, and it's heartening to to know the team at Six Apart will be on the case.  [John Battelle's Searchblog]

This is a good thing?  I guess if you're a SixApart investor - but we'll have to see what this means to us folks - the end-users, developers and industry that have seen 6A fall from grace. 

Will Andrew (along with the recently West coast ensconed Anil Dash) be able to pick up the pieces?  Is Andrew Anil's boss or vice versa?  What about Barak - how come there was no announcement about him becoming CEO?

I remember Andrew as the guy at Wired that Dave Winer and I tried to..... well let's just say - it didn't happen.

Andrew has recently been a VC at one of thsoe firms.  It's hard to tell them apart.  So good luck to Andrew and 6A - don't forget how you got there.

And OH - support FOAF!  Oh wait - they do support FOAF already!  Just a little funky.  Well I have FULL CONFIDENCE that 6A will do the right thing - when it comes to FOAF.

Thanks to everyone who came to the Pre-Pre Supernova party on Tuesday night! We had about 150 people for some yummy Thai food and great networking. It was a blast.

I'm just returning from San Francisco now, so I haven't yet had time to upload photos. Renee Blodgett, who helped organize the dinner, has posted some< /a>.

I'm trying out the Party Shuffle feature in the new iTunes, and I'd have to say it's a major improvement over the regular shuffle play. Even when I am not throwing a party. (Okay, I'd admit it. I seldom throw parties.) The user-interface is great.
What I like, especially, is the ability to add tunes to my party shuffle from the library.
Of course, I suspect there may be ever a slight decrease in my productivity when I am party-ing with iTunes while working... :-)
Disclaimer: I'm trying out iTunes on my Windows XP machine, but I suspect there will not be any difference on iTunes for Mac.
