According to a post at Dave Farber's Interesting People list, that's exactly what one mobile phone company in India just did. As the full story notes, the person that Hutch called up happened to be a potential client -- and that can't look good. While someone in the comments notes another local phone company did the same, you have to wonder if this is common practice, or one collections agent simply going to far. Either way, you have to wonder why a collections agent should have access to the phone numbers you call.

Here's an interesting situation with a host I use. AOL is getting confused as to the actual source of email marked as spam, and mail forwarding servers are getting dinged as a result.

[...] some customers have content filter rules to send all mail for their domain or for their mailbox to @aol.com addresses. These customers then go into their @aol.com accounts and read their mail and mark messages as spam. When these customers mark messages as spam, AOL now has counters in place that record the mail server it came from.

Therefore, in order to meet the guidelines and thresholds imposed by AOL, we will soon be shutting off the ability to forward emails to @aol.com addresses.

Crappy situation, but I can see why they have no choice but to shut off forwarding.

China Central Television (CCTV), the state television station, first raised public worries over the quality of domestic soy sauce by uncovering a substandard workshop in central China's Hubei Province, where piles of waste human hair were found. The hairs were treated in special containers to distill amino acid, the most common substance contained in soybean sauce.

Human hair is rich in protein content, just like soybean, wheat and bran, the conventional and legally accepted raw ingredients for the production of soy sauce.
