JTT iCue FM Transmitter
JTT iCue FM Transmitter
08/09/2004 10:01 PM
JTT's "iCue" FM transmitter
is pretty straightforward. It's so straightforward, in fact, basically
all of the improvements are visible in the image at the right. Yes,
it's here and it's clear - the headphone cable and batteries are
visible inside of the unit through the transparant blue plastic
cover.
One "feature" that struck me as odd about this transmitter is how
it can only change between four different frequencies, all on the
88MHz band. Why? That sucks! It also claims to have a 10-meter range,
though if my experience with other products has taught me anything, it
gets close to useless around 1-meter.

Grand Central Transmitter Theories
Grand Central Transmitter Theories
08/31/2004 06:03 AMReader Morgan writes:
After reading about the Grand
Central setups on Gizmodo I decided to take a look around when I
passed through Grand Central on my way home tonight. First off,
they're scattered all over the main concourse (one over track 27 and
several along the departure boards were the most visible).
Risking a Homeland Security smackdown, I decided to ask some police
standing around about them, and if they were indeed, cellular relays.
After a studying look and pause the MTA officer said, "I have no idea
what they are" and turned away. Eventually I found a Customer Service
guy who after a few, "Why are you asking?" and, "I'm not supposed to
say anythings" divulged that they were cameras.
Altough I wasn't about to take any photos after flagging myself as
the curious type, I noticed that there wasn't any visible lens on the
device but there was something resembling a motion detector. Perhaps
some kind of IR motion tracker?
More conjecture after the link.

Belkin TuneDok iPod Car Holder Review
Belkin TuneDok iPod Car Holder Review
06/11/2004 08:17 AM
Far be it from me
to begrudge anyone the opportunity to tear apart a ridiculous consumer
product, but no matter what the guys at Whining Dog say, I think this
Belkin TuneDok iPod holder is pretty clever. It's basically just a
simple travel holder for your iPod, doesn't do anything terribly
fancy, or electronic, even, but it does have the good graces to slip
comfortably into any available cupholder you have in your car, putting
your iPod at a more comfortable eye-level (hopefully) and saving it
from unsightly scratches.
You might say the $40 price tag sort isn't in line with its overall
usefulness, and you'd be right, but when these things invariably drop
to $9.98 at your local Best Buy, it's not going to look like such a
rip off.
