Queen Elizabeth Pooh-Poohs Sony Remotes

Queen Elizabeth Pooh-Poohs Sony Remotes 06/24/2005 04:03 PM

qeiipod.jpgWow, Sony can't catch a break. First the Queen of England buys an iPod mini. Then, at a luncheon with new Sony CEO Howard Stringer—a known Englishman Welshman (Welsh, English, whatev! Don't make us bomb you.)—the Queen chided him for making products that are difficult to use. "I have a lot of trouble with your remote controls," she's quoted. "Too many arrows."

What Queen Elizabeth II neglected to admit, however, is that due to the long history of in-marriage in the Hapsburg line, she has only a single lobster claw at the tip of each arm.

Sony products are too much trouble - The Queen [Macworld]

Elizabeth Lawley's Breaking Into the
Boys' Club ETCON talk
02/10/2004 04:10 PM
Here're my running notes from El izabeth Lawley's Breaking Into the Boys' Club: How Diversifying Your Team Can Expand Your Market at the O'Reilly Emerging Technology Conference in San Diego.
RIT is struggling with enrolment, but the enrolment is overwhelmingly male. Why not bring in more women? It's an untapped field and it makes men happier.

People say that women don't want want to be there, why are your forcing them to go? But this is what people said about math 30 years ago.

Today there's gender parity in math classes, but subtle pressures steered them away.

We design products for men -- women get killed by airbags. If you include women in the devleopment of product, you diversify the view. Women aren't the only viewpoint you need to include, but it's half the potential market.

Anil Dash: It's no coincidence that the two popular blogging packages (Blogger and MT) were co-developmed by women (Meg Hourihan and Mena Trott).

G4 iBooks 10/28/2003 11:08 PM

Updated iBooks

Updated iBooks 12/17/2004 06:34 PM
Apple have updated the range of iBooks. Processing power has increased and Airport cards are now standard across the range. Price reductions also bring down the 12-inch model below the magic $1000 mark (in the US obviously). The revised 14-inch model looks particularly good value — 1.33 GHz G4, 60Gb HD and DVD-R/CD-RW for £1049. Certainly a worthy alternative to the 12-inch PowerBook G4. Far be it from me to circulate rumours, but a revision to the iBook range suggests that the G5 PowerBooks may not be too far away…
