I've never had much use for cufflinks (especially since my tux and tux-shirt vanished along with three boxes of prized possessions that I mailed from San Francisco to London), but these ones appeal to the autistically instrument-obssessed nerd in me: an entire line of cufflinks with embedded clocks, thermomenters and compasses. It's enough to make me a) want to buy a pair and b) buy a new tux to wear 'em with. Link (Thanks, Yoz!)

WHO SAID that Microsoft had the dominance in the operating system market? A couple of homebrew efforts appear to be treading new ground in the ever-shrinking sector of niche hardware hacking. First up, from the OS4 team, is the brand spanking new update for Amiga OS 4.0. Thought the Amiga was dead? Think again. The new release includes support for USB mass storage devices and a Kernel update, taking it to 51.20. You can find more details on the release at AmigaWorld.

Pompignan Wine

Pompignan Wine 10/29/2003 12:10 AM

Photographs of this year’s harvest.

This marks a first for my friend Noël, at least as proprietor of his own cave (previous posts on the matter here and here), construction of which was just finishing as the grapes rolled in. The new winery still has no name, though that has more to do with the pleasures of navigating French bureaucracy than anything else.

Everyone seems to agree this was a good season, grape-juice-wise: very little disease in the vines hereabouts, and this year’s, um, diverse weather may have caused untold mayhem, but it was conducive to good plonk.

Most notable, of course, is that I got to ride the machine.

It was held in a quaint wine bistro - which Loic Le Meur chose. Loic got all sorts of hackers, entrprenuers and folks interested in micro-content to show up.

And here's me and Loic at SixApart - Europe. I also got to see JY there.

I hopped down to Paris for less than 24 hr and now I'm back in Amsterdam. BBQ time and lots of public music time.
