Kyocera isn't the only camera company taking hot fashion tips from Apple's iPod mini. Adesso has a new line of new cameras that seem to match, at least superficially, the green, pink, and blue colors of the mini. However, in an interesting break from Kyocera's form, the Adesso cameras seem to be exceptionally, well, crappy, with the high end model rolling in with a 1.3-megapixel sensor. I guess hoping for an LCD on the back of these is asking too much, huh? I think this is one time when following the 'smaller is better' ethic is probably a misstep.

There's been some pushback recently, in the .NET blogging community, about Microsoft's habit of living in the future. For example:

It is abundantly frustrating to be keeping up with you guys right now. We out here in the real world do not use Longhorn, do not have access to Longhorn (not in a way we can trust for production), and we cannot even begin to test out these great new technologies until version 1.0 (or 2.0 for those that wish to stay sane). I know there's probably not a whole lot you can do, but this is a plea to you from someone "in the field". My job is to work on the architecture team as well as implement solutions for a large-scale commercial website using .NET. I use this stuff all day every day, but I use the 1.1 release bits.

Reader Lee Crane sent me images of the DC/Incase Skatebag, the backpack announced yesterday designed specifically for Powerbooks and iBooks, although I have a sneaking suspicion that you could even put a gnarly PC laptop in there just fine. It's not skatepunk-priced, though -- this plasticy camo bag will set you back $120. Guess it's time to start gleaming the pube, you little boarding bastards.

Could be old or could be new, but I hadn't seen it, and I like the idea, if not the implementation. The APC TravelPower Backpack is basically a bag with a powerstrip built-in, letting you plug all your various devices inside, then plug the pack into a power outlet using a single cord, which can be adapter to fit automobile, airline, and standard AC power outlets. It even has an internal USB outlet for charing devices that can receive power over USB.

The Dunhill cigarette company has made a cigarette-case-style case for the iPod, which, in classinc Dunhill hyperbole, they describe as "ergonomic and luxurious."
