So, when Symantec's Anti-Virus program — which has been around for, what, 75 years? — lists the viruses it's found, it gives you the three key pieces of information: The name of the infected file, the virus, and the action Symantec took to fix the problem. Click on this image to see the full screen capture. Unfortunately, there's not enough room in the window to list everything. And it's an un-resizable window with no horizontal scroll bar. And, no, hovering doesn't work. Another couple of decades and maybe Symantec will get this right....

LGE's TV Fridge

LGE's TV Fridge 06/07/2004 04:07 PM

lge_tv_fridge.jpg imageIf LG Electronics is really trying to make a name for themselves in the American and European markets, I'd say this refrigerator with a built-in 13-inch LCD TV is a pretty good way to do it. It also has a built-in radio function, and uses 'bio silver' -- tiny particles of silver, which is naturally anti-bacterial -- to, uhm, kill bacteria (like those people who use colloidal silver generators to clean everything, sort of). The release doesn't say what sort of inputs the TV has -- it'd be great if you could use this as a monitor for a networked PC. It even has a 'Carbon Nano Ball' to help deodorize, which is probably just made up of nano-scale carbon pieces, known as 'molecules.'

BBC Mistakes A Fridge For A Video Tape

BBC Mistakes A Fridge For A Video Tape 06/18/2004 12:59 PM
The perfect Friday time wasting story. It appears that someone rushed an important video tape to a BBC office recently. The label on the tape was falling off, so someone in the mailroom replaced it. However, he or she took the original label and happened to stick it to the lunch room fridge. The end result should be listened to in order to fully appreciate what happened, but the sender of the tape received a hilarious voicemail message wonderin g why they had sent a "six-foot fridge" instead of the needed video tape. Such is life in a hectic news room.

asashidvd-beer.jpgThe ultimate in bachelor pad accessories: it's a TV, it plays DVDs, and it's a beer fridge, all-in-one! You gotta love the higher-ups at Asahi Beer for coming up with this concept. Only thing is, you can't buy it -- it's only available as a prize in Asahi's latest sales campaign (the ad appeared in today's issue of Tokyo Walker magazine). But just the thought of having one of these at home... It doesn't really get better than this, does it?

puppy_polar_fridge.jpgA fridge so adorable that you could just eat it up is really the last thing you want when struggling with your diet [You actually wrote that? —ed.], but for the skinny crowd, Fujitronic makes a series of animal-styled mini-fridges. Available shaped as a polar bear or puppy dog, they feature an on-door LCD which can house a virtual pet to keep you entertained while you wait for your bacon craving to pass. It's unfortunately $400 (plus $120 shipping!) for just 3.2 cubic feet, but it at least features a "conventient [sic] and practical rotary fruit tray" to make up for it.
