The Attakus Forum gives us a sneak peak at some of the work being done on their up coming Metal line. Of particular note is the scale model of the Millennium Falcon, previously reported as part of their Death Star Diorama. Only a small part of the ship will be built, not the whole ship. Even from these early images, things are shaping up to be one sweet line. More news as it develops.

Microsoft Corp. today announced availability of Visual Studio® 2005 Beta 2, Microsoft® .NET Framework 2.0 Beta 2 and the SQL Server (TM) 2005 April Community Technology Preview (CTP), the latest milestone in delivering these products to customers. Together, the products provide a deeply integrated development and data management platform, enabling customers to utilize existing skills and familiar tools to harness data in powerful new ways that increase productivity and efficiency. Several early adopters such as ABS-CBN Interactive, ORF and Townsend Analytics Ltd. have deployed these products in their production environments to reap the benefits of close tool and database integration. Because of broad customer demand to work with these prerelease products today, Microsoft also announced the Microsoft Go-Live license program for customers interested in deploying Visual Studio 2005 and SQL Server 2005 Express Edition immediately. Microsoft and multiple partners today also announced plans to provide customers with educational resources that will help them prepare for the launch of these two products.

It gets worse (better?)...

XML Best Practices for Microsoft SQL
Server 2005

XML Best Practices for Microsoft SQL
Server 2005
08/03/2004 12:31 AM
Microsoft SQL Server 2005 provides extensive support for XML data processing. XML values can be stored natively in an XML data type column, which can be typed according to a collection of XML schemas, or left untyped. You can index the XML column. Furthermore, fine-grained data manipulation is supported using XQuery and XML DML, the latter being an extension for data modification. SQL Server 2000 and SQLXML Web Releases provide powerful XML data management capabilities. These features focus on mapping between relational and XML data. XML views of relational data can be defined using annotated XSD (AXSD) to provide an XML-centric approach that supports the bulkload of data, query, and update capabilities on XML data. Transact-SQL extensions provide a SQL-centric approach for mapping relational query results to XML (using FOR XML), and generating relational views from XML (using OpenXML). These supports have been extended in SQL Server 2005. Together with the newly added native XML support, SQL Server 2005 provides a powerful platform for developing rich applications for semi-structured and unstructured data management.
