Critical Update for Windows Media Player
(All Versions) for Windows 2000, Windows
XP, and Windows Server 2003 (KB828026)
02/11/2004 01:19 AMWhen a content owner creates an audio or video stream, they can add
script commands (such as URL script commands and custom script
commands) to be encoded in the stream. When the stream is played back,
the script commands can trigger events in an embedded player program,
or they can open your browser and then navigate to a Web page. This
behavior is by design

for DirectX 9.0b on Windows 2000,
Windows XP, and Windows Server 2003
(KB825116)
11/04/2003 11:37 PMDirectX 9.0b was released on 7/23/03 to address the MIDI security
issue identified in bulletin MS03-030. A small number of non-security
fixes were also included in the release. One of these fixes caused
several TV Tuner capture card/driver combinations using video formats
other than NTSC (NTSC-J, PAL, SECAM) to no longer initialize correctly
on Windows 2000, Windows XP, and Windows Server 2003. Symptoms include
loss of capture functionality and potential inability to set/retain

02/12/2004 05:01 PMNeowin has learned of shocking and potentially devastating news. It
would appear that two packages are circulating on the internet, one
being the source code to Windows 2000, and the other being the source
code to Windows NT. At this time, it is hard to establish whether or
not full code has leaked, and this will undoubtedly remain the
situation until an attempt is made to compile them. Microsoft are
currently unavailable for comment surrounding this leak so we have no
official response from them at the time of writing.

Protect Your Windows System with
Advanced Registry Tracer
Protect Your Windows System with
Advanced Registry Tracer
03/14/2005 05:57 PMElcomSoft Co. Ltd. has released Advanced Registry Tracer 2.0, a
powerful utility that protects your Windows system by analyzing
changes made to your registry, making snapshots of it, storing these
images in a database, and making it easy to restore your registry when
you encounter problems. Unlike registry monitoring programs that
simply monitor access to the registry, Advanced Registry Tracer lets
you track and undo each and every change to the registry, without
affecting your system performance. [PRWEB Mar 13, 2005]

DeviceLock for Windows NT/2000/XP v5.51
10/29/2003 09:12 AMDeviceLock gives network administrators control over which users can
access what devices (ports, floppies, Magneto-Optical disks, etc.) on
a local computer. Once DeviceLock is installed, administrators can
assign permissions to LPT ports, CD-ROMs, COM ports or any other
device, just as they would to share-permissions on a hard disk.
Network administrators can use DeviceLock to flush a storage device's
buffers (very useful for removable media) and to get extended
information about devices and NTFS partitions. Remote control is also
available. [Shareware $40.00 15 Days 1.61 MB]
