Photo Archives: Han Solo (Endor Strike) 05/18/2004 04:40 PM
The Battle of Endor takes place in our Photo Archives this week, beginning with Han Solo (Endor Strike). We've already seen today how much of a busy man Han is, but he still somehow finds time to change into an AT-ST Driver suit and give the all-clear signal in Return of the Jedi.

POTF2 Photo Archives Update: Han Solo 05/18/2004 02:49 PM
Today's update to our Power of the Force 2 Photo Archives shows the different sides of the captain of the Millennium Falcon, Han Solo. Whether he's hard at work with his Smuggler Flight Pack, negotiating a deal with Jabba the Hutt, flirting with Princess Leia on Cloud City, or just kicking back in the Millennium Falcon CD-ROM Playset, the hard-working Corellian is just shows how busy the life of a scoundrel can really be.

Talk about Essential Action figures. Even with the wrong weapon packed with it, the vintage Han Solo (Bespin Outfit) figure is easily the best rendition of the former spice smuggler. Not only is it completely proportionate something this characters figures have a hard time being-- its darn heroically sculpted. No matter what, this figure, added today to the Vintage Photo Archive, couldnt have been made any better. Maybe thats why Kenner had to throw extra gimmicks like material trench coats, big honking Carbonite slabs, and even *gasp!* the proper weapon with their follow up Hans

Vintage Photo Archives: Han Solo (In
Carbonite Chamber)

The vintage Han Solo (In Carbonite Chamber) was certainly a great action figure, and there are hardly any arguments to prove otherwise. That being said, its odd that todays addition to the Vintage Photo Archive didnt come with a weapon. Sure, one could counter by saying the huge Carbonite Chamber makes up for it, but in truth that was to make up for the figures lack of eyebrowsagain.

Props to Kenner for releasing the Han Solo (In Trench Coat) action figure a whole year after Return of The Jedi hit the theaters. Of course the toymaker could have profited more by releasing todays addition to the Vintage Photo Archive in the films first wave, but with The Empire Strikes Backs ambiguous ending, seeing the figure even if it were blacked outon a card back would have destroyed a lot of the films suspense. Its a shame that Lucasfilm hadnt thought of that before cutting and releasing a trailer for the film that shows the scoundrel fighting on Endor

POTF2 European Photo Archive today's update closes the first green European cards wave with Han Solo (Carbonite). Vintage Photo Archives: 4-LOM

Vintage Photo Archives: 4-LOM 11/14/2003 01:20 AM
Most vintage collectors will argue to no end that Kenner's vintage Star Wars line was flawless, but even the most die-hard out there will agree that the toymaker did mess up once. The mistake in question deals partially with the 4-LOM action figure. It seems that the hard working people at Kenner had somehow mixed his and Zuckuss's names up. As a result, to vintage collectors, todays addition to the Vintage Photo Archive will always be 4-LOM. But for those of you that read this column daily, it is, of course, all old news

Vintage Photo Archives: 8D8

Vintage Photo Archives: 8D8 12/15/2003 02:28 AM
How is it that 8D8, a mute white robot that looks like it belongs on a Pete Townsend album cover could be a popular action figure? Well, in the case of 8D8, there is the whole Star Wars character angle, plus like many kids, this guy liked taking out his aggressions on pool little Power Droids. So it would seem a no-brainer Well, except that today's addition to the Vintage Photo Archive wasnt really a popular action figure. Chances are, anyone with hours on their hands (like any toy collector doesnt have too much of that) could probably still find a couple of these carded at their local mom and pop toy store. Hint: Look behind the Bionic Six action figures in the discount bin.

Vintage Photo Archives: Zuckuss 11/13/2003 01:59 AM
Most vintage collectors will argue to no end that Kenner's vintage Star Wars line was flawless, but even the most die-hard out there will agree that the toymaker did mess up once. Vintage Photo Archives: Lobot

Vintage Photo Archives: Lobot 10/31/2003 01:41 AM
Perhaps the vintage Lobot action figure isn't as exciting as, say, either of the Bespin guards or the Cloud Car pilot, but he certainly was an intriguing character in the film, and that likely had a lot to do with todays addition to the Vintage Photo Archives success on the toy shelves-- That or maybe it was the fancy shirts he had a proclivity for wearing that Star Wars fans went nuts for.

Vintage Photo Archives: Yak Face

Vintage Photo Archives: Yak Face 01/23/2004 03:58 AM
Much like the Vinyl Cape Jawa and Blue Snaggletooth, Yak Face will always be a famous and sought after Star Wars collectible, both from die-hard collectors in the Star Wars community and outside as well. Though considered to be quite rare, eBay has proven to have them available in fairly decent quantities on a nearly daily basis. Nonetheless, its perceived to be unbelievably rare which isnt all together true- and therefore warrants higher than average prices. On a side note, with this post we finish the first part of our Vintage Photo Archive. Be sure to check out part two coming this summer to a galaxy near you

Vintage Photo Archives: Bib Fortuna

Vintage Photo Archives: Bib Fortuna 12/02/2003 12:27 AM
Even though he lived in a nice house in a neighbourhood pretty close to the bright center of the galaxy, Bib Fortuna got teased a lot when he was in junior high. As if it isnt awkward enough for the poor guy to put up with the challenges of puberty whilst dealing with the fact that hed never win any beauty contests, today's addition to the Vintage Photo Archive had to deal with having a name that was simply begging to be used against him. Its no wonder the young wallflower grew up to hang out with smelly do-no-gooders with down right silly names on the planet furthest from.

Photo Archives Update: OTC Cardbacks

Photo Archives Update: OTC Cardbacks 09/02/2004 12:05 PM
It's all about the packaging with the Original Trilogy Collection this year. Not only do we get the cards we've always wanted to buy, but we also get the cards the toy designers have always wanted to make! As I've been getting luckier with my toy hunts recently, I've been scanning in the cardbacks to show off the great backgrounds that are part of this line. I don't have them all yet, but what I have scored has been added to our Photo Archives today.

Photo Archives: Holiday Sandtrooper

Photo Archives: Holiday Sandtrooper 12/28/2004 05:08 PM

Gentle Giant Studios goes beyond the call of duty this year with a very gracious gift to those that have helped support their Star Wars line and we are honored to officially add this treasure to our Photo Archives today. While not technically part of their Mini-Bust line, the Holiday Edition Silver and Gold Sandtrooper is destined to become one of the most desirable Star Wars collectibles of all time. Click through to see why.

Vintage Photo Archives: Too-Onebee
(2-1B)

Vintage Photo Archives: Too-Onebee
(2-1B)
11/04/2003 02:01 AM
Sure the vintage 2-1B action figure was Johnny-on-the-spot whenever a farm boy needed to get some serious plastic surgery or a new bio-mechanic hand, but what has he done for the Rebellion lately? More than you know pal, more than you'll ever know! For instance, whom do you think the Rebels turn to on New Year's Eve for a designated driver? Who do you think shovels the walks on the Hoth base and scrubs the moss of the Ewok suspension bridges on the Forest moon of Endor? That's right, the good old medical droid, that's who. Todays addition to the Vintage Photo Archive doesn't mind much though, since it keeps the Rebels off his precious collection of medical gurneys.
