Part of a discussion on measuring language quality and utility on LtU. There are two types of programmers: those who like to solve problems, and those who just like to be in control. Problem solvers like bugs, it's a new problem to set your teeth into. Control freaks hate bugs, they just lost a bit of control. ?

X-37 first flight at Mojave (on
SpaceShipOne's anniversary)

X-37 first flight at Mojave (on
SpaceShipOne's anniversary)
06/22/2005 01:49 AM
Xeni Jardin: The first test flight of the X-37 went off without a hitch today at Mojave airport/spaceport in the California desert. Mojave aviation author and photographer Alan Radecki took some great photos, including the shot here.

At the crack of dawn this morning, Mojave witnessed yet another First Flight, this time of the Boeing/NASA/DARPA X-37 ALTV (Approach and Landing Test Vehicle) carried on a captive-carry flight by Scaled Composites' White Knight. It was exactly one year ago that we were gathered here to witness the first space launch of Scaled's SpaceShipOne. What a way to celebrate an anniversary! The morning started spectacularly, and just as the sun cleared the horizon, the engines started on White Knight. Chase service was performed, as on the SpaceShipOne flights, by Robert Scherer's Starship and Chuck Coleman's Extra 300.

A problem with the site emailing users passwords was recently fixed. If you registered for an account and did not receive a password in the mail then use the "Request new password" link on the right left to request the email again. Sorry for the inconvenience, but no one bothered to say it wasn't working so it sat broken until I noticed the logs had some failures.

Safari's cookie bug fixed

Safari's cookie bug fixed 03/19/2003 10:25 PM
Dave Hyatt reports: Maciej fixed the infamous cookie bug last night, so PHP-Nuke sites will now work properly. Quoting Maciej... I have a fix for the infamous PHP-Nuke login bug. It should be in the next release. Here's the short version: the Netscape cookie spec says when a cookie comes from a URL like "http://www.foo.com/user.php" and no path is explicitly specified, then the path should default to "/user.php". However, it actually needs to default to "/", because that's what all real browsers do. Don't you love the web? (from Surfin' Safari)

Japanese FeedDemon bug fixed

Japanese FeedDemon bug fixed 05/29/2004 08:17 AM

Among the bugs on my "must fix" list before releasing FeedDemon 1.10 is the one described here, in which FeedDemon shows garbage in the status bar when running on the Japanese version of Windows.

Well, I'm happy to report that after much hair-pulling, I've finally found the cause of this UI bug and fixed it [screenshot].

This was the last high priority bug on my list, so if all goes well FeedDemon 1.10 will be released on Monday.
