07/07/2004 11:08 AMThe latest Cassini- Huygens mission images of Saturn are now available
at http://saturn.jpl.nasa.gov and http://www.nasa.gov/cassini. The
first pictures taken by the Cassini spacecraft after it began orbiting
Saturn show breathtaking detail of Saturn's rings, and other science
measurements reveal that Saturn's magnetic field pulsed in size as
Cassini approached the planet.

Cassini Is Almost to Saturn!
Cassini Is Almost to Saturn!
05/28/2004 10:58 PMAfter 6
years in space, the $3.2 billion Cassini
robotic
spacecraft is due
to arrive at Saturn soon. Nasa will fire up
the engines to prepare Cassini for an orbital insertion on July
1st.
As early as June 11th, Cassini will zip past one of Saturn's outer
moons
Phoebe. Later in the middle of January, the
Huygens probe will be
dropped to study the atmosphere of Titan; another of Saturn's moons.
Some activists hated Cassini for being nuclear but it appears not
to have harmed anything much. Of
course, Nasa is yet again searching and hoping for life on other
celestial bodies,
but at least we've been getting some great pictures of the Ringed
World.

are currently showing pictures with live commentary - a news briefing
is scheduled for 1 PM Eastern time - and live interviews on the
Cassini mission from 3 PM - 7 PM. You can watch NASA TV with
RealPlayer or Windows Media Player - or if you have a dish, you can
find it on the satellite AMC 9 Transponder 9C, 85 degrees west
longitude, vertical polarization downlink frequency - 3880 MHz, Audio
is at 6.8 MHz.
