whois

whois 01/08/2004 08:36 PM
Well call me just plain out of it. Or blame it on my complete lack of Unix chops. Either may be accurate. Until now I've been bouncing off of NetSol and putting up with the ridiculous (and highly inaccessible)...

Whois.sc 03/30/2005 03:30 PM

This handy little site joins sites like ph p.net and A9 in offering "functionality by URL." Enter "whois.sc/" and any domain name in your address bar, and you get the whois data — like this. Eliminates a step from the normal pattern: enter the domain, wait for the page to load, find the form field, enter the domain, press submit...

whois kuro5hin.org 12/24/2004 12:49 PM
Won't you be my neighbour? Believe it or not, to this day I didn't know who Mr. Rogers was. But I've said yes to his memorable question, and so have you--if you, like me, have taken the time to register and regularly visit Kuro5hin. We've became neighbours our own little virtual 'hood. But who are these people around us? Who is trhurler, and will he be throwing things at me? Where is localroger? Does Battle Troll have an axe to grind? This i guy, is he real? Let's find out.

Google whois quicklink

Google whois quicklink 01/08/2004 08:01 PM

Ev writes about Google's new quicklink for whois. If you search for "whois [domain]" on Google you will get a link to a search on www.ratite.com's Global Whois service for the domain name. I guess this is useful for people who won't touch a command line, but I don't think I'd ever use it. I will continue to open a terminal window and type "whois google.com". That way I can continue to see whois spam too. ;-)

Prefix WhoIs 1.0.1 (Default branch)

Prefix WhoIs 1.0.1 (Default branch) 04/09/2005 03:12 AM
The Prefix WhoIs Project provides a whois-compatible client and server framework for disclosing various up-to-date routing information via a familiar whois interface. Instead of using registrar-originated information (which is often unspecific or inaccurate), it uses the Internet's global routing table as gleaned from a number of routing peers around the network. The software consists of a 'pWhoIsd' server that responds to queries using a variety of output formats including pWhoIs-native, Cymru, and RPSL, the 'pWhoIs-updatedb' agent that parses routing information bases (RIBs) from Internet routers and populates a relational database, and the 'WhoB' command-line whois client.

Changes:
This release fixes some database insertion routines in pwhois-updatedb. It significantly improves the routeview commands and some administration features. The documentation was also updated.
