Broadcasting Unifying Gears (BUG.tv) has released its new Class-BUG HD video server, which is based on Apple's Xserve G5. It was designed to play uncompressed, full quality video from Motion, Final Cut Pro, Adobe After Effects and other applications by dragging and dropping it to the server. Class-BUG HD features an HD-SDI key channel for an external keyer, AES/EBU audio outputs, adjustable Genlock, a GPI input for interfacing with other systems and more. It comes with an Xserve G5, an SDI output and control software for integration with automation systems. BUG.tv asks you to contact them for pricing.

On Thursday, Canopus noted that the ADVC110 is now available. The portable device features FireWire bus-powered operation through its 6-pin ports and the capability to capture and output S-Video and composite analog video, as well as perform audio-only conversions. It can operate as a stand-alone converter and offers locked audio support for perfect synchronization between audio and video. The ADVC110 is compatible with Apple's Final Cut Pro, iMovie and iDVD, Avid Xpress DV and other applications.

It supports QuickTime-based media, and can play iMovie, Final Cut Express and Final Cut Pro movies without any file conversion. On Tuesday, BUG.tv announced a new version of ListPlayer Express that supports PAL, the European standard for television -- up to now, ListPlayer Express has only worked on NTSC, the television standard used in North America. Canadian developer Broadcast Unifying Gears (BUG) announced on Thursday the release of ListPlayer Express, an application that turns any G4 or G5 Mac into a closed caption TV (CCTV) video server for use in a school, business, store or similar environment. It's a stripped-down version of the ListPlayer application that comes with BUG's CLASS-1 1U rack mountable video server. You can drag and drop Final Cut Pro/Express or iMovie files onto the software and play them without conversion; any file format supported by QuickTime is also supported. ListPlayer Express can play videos according to a schedule or when you manually direct it to play them.
