Why Windows Server 2003 for Opteron is
significant
01/16/2004 11:02 AM
My colleague John Fontana reported last week that Microsoft has released a public beta of Windows Server 2003 for AMD's Opteron processor. While a 64-bit version of Windows Server software isn't "breaking news" (Windows 2000 came in a 64-bit version), a version tuned for a non-Intel chip is significant.

With this release, the software is available to anyone interested in trying it out through a customer preview program, says John Borozan, a Microsoft product manager.

12/17/2004 06:38 PM

FeedDemon 1.5 BETA 3a is now available. As you can see from the release notes, there are a number of changes in this build, the most notable being podcasti ng and improved enclosure support.

After downloading beta 3a, simply install it directly on top of your current version of FeedDemon and your existing data will be retained. However, given that this is a beta release, I recommend backing up FeedDemon's cache folder before upgrading (if you're not sure where this folder is, select File > Manage Cache > Explore Cache Folder).

Note to translators: FeedDemon's language file is likely to change in subsequent betas, so I recommend against translating it until version 1.5 has reached release candidate (RC) status.

Extended and cleaned up OmniWeb's AppleScript support. Bookmarks are now accessible via AppleScript, the 'browser' object is a kind of window (and responds to the standard window events), and the event class code is now OWEB to match OmniWeb's application code, instead of Ow00. Implemented the scary misc/dosc event ("do script") which lets you run JavaScript from AppleScript.
