Is Microsoft Spread Too Thin?

Is Microsoft Spread Too Thin? 03/20/2003 01:05 PM
Microsoft has been highly successful in establishing a dominant hold over its core market. However, the company's ventures into new territory have had less stunningly positive outcomes. And when a software company starts to offer watches, one has to wonder if it is starting to lose sight of its core business. Is Microsoft spread too thin?

Microsoft gives middle finger to Poor
and Corporate America

Microsoft gives middle finger to Poor
and Corporate America
09/25/2004 07:57 PM

Microsoft's decision not to retrofit security updates for IE for any other version besides Windows XP has a lot of people upset. Imagine if you are on a limited income and can not afford to upgrade from Windows 98 to Windows XP. Also what if you are corporate entity and you have 1000's of PC's that run windows 2000.

Their is a simple answer for those running Windows 2000, switch to Firefox but that still leaves the Poor to fend for themselves. They are the ones that are more likely to not have up to date virus protection, firewalls or spyware software. So much for their security incentive. Bad Bad Microsoft. [Dan Gillmor]

Encinitas inventor William Louis has been fighting Microsoft Corp. since 1998 over patents for ergonomic keyboards – with very little success. Yesterday, he finally had something to smile about. A federal appeals court resurrected Louis' long-running federal lawsuit accusing the software company of patent infringement. In the decision by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, the court said a U.S. District Court judge in San Diego made a mistake when she ruled that patents held by TypeRight Keyboard Corp. for V-shaped keyboards with wrist rests were invalid. Louis co-founded TypeRight in the early '90s.
