A major report was published following a national conference on cyberinfrastructure in the social sciences. The event , sponsored by the National Science Foundation ( NSF ), explored what technological and social tools are emerging to support research in the social sciences, and considered what forms of support are most needed.

This report, which launched last year , draws on an earlier, NSF-supported document concerning the natural sciences.
