eBay: Motorola A630 07/01/2004 01:44 PM

< img src="http://www.gizmodo.com/archives/images/A630_2.jpg" alt="A630_2.jpg image" width="200" height="181" border="0" align="right" vspace="5" hspace="15"/>Okay, so scratch all that crap I said about the Motorola A630 running Windows Mobile and having an SD card slot. Apparently it is basically just a V600 in a different shell, which isn't inherently a bad thing, but it certainly isn't groundbreaking, either. It is still in my form factor of choice, though, so even if it can't pass the "able to SSH" test, it at least gets two out of three (integrated QWERTY, flipscreen). I won't be paying $500+ for one, but if you need it, let eBay be your guide.

See what happens when you invite a bunch of Hollywood trash to your product debut, Motorola? Cokeheads done stoled your new phone, onos.

Digital Dream Sportsman Sports Camera

Digital Dream Sportsman Sports Camera 06/11/2004 09:40 AM

sportsman_sport.jpg imageThe Digital Dream Sportsman Sports Camera is a dabbler, doing a little picture taking here, a little video taking there, plus another slew of functions via its 'fitness console,' including an electronic pulse taker, pedometer, calorie counter, stopwatch, temperature display, calendar, and clock. All for £50. It's probably total crap, but I can accept low-quality when it comes cheap.

Not officially announced yet, but word has leaked of a digital camera attachment for Motorola's MPx200 Smartphone that fits into its SD expansion card slot. The camera will have a swiveling lens, a resolution of 640x480 pixels, and is expected to cost $120, which seems a bit steep to us, especially since they're selling the phones themselves for just $80 now. moto_e680i.jpgMobileBurn has details on the other Motorola phone to be announced at M3, the Linux-based E680i. The touchscreen smartphone is oriented around music and video playback, but you'll be able to run a variety of applications on the system, including 3D games. It's exactly the kind of form factor I can't hang with in a smartphone, but it looks pretty decent if you like pen-based interfaces and the tweakability that Linux provides.

Oh, and it can pair up with Motorola's new Bluetooth headphones. Saucy.

Apparently the kind that doesn't want to give too much information up about their new product, like the Motorola A630, a Cingular Wireless exclusive with a fold-out keyboard, integrated camera (VGA, likely), SD slot, Bluetooth and 65k color display -- all running on Windows Mobile 2003. We would have been happy to have sent out a crack Gawker Party Crashing squad, Motorola.

HP_rz1715_1_S.jpg imageLooks like online office retailer CDW jumped the gun a bit with HP's new iPaq line, revealing some surprisingly disappointing information about the rz1715, specifically. According to CDW's information, the rz1715 will not be using the Second Edition of Windows Mobile for Pocket PC, will not have dual-slots as previously rumored, and is listed as being loaded with a minuscule 25MB of RAM. One upside, though, is that the shipping time for all the new iPaqs is listed as 1-2 weeks -- if you're feeling frisky, you could probably pre-order now.

Brighthand has a breakdown off all the leaked information about all five new iPaqs.

07/26/2004 10:55 AM

om_h6315.jpg imageHP has officially pulled the tarps from its new iPAQ line of Pocket PC PDAs; the first reviews are just starting to trickle in. Mobile dervish Om Malik has had one of the most exciting new iPAQ models, the h6315, in his hands for about a week, and while it isn't the most favorable review I've ever read, it still looks pretty exciting for anyone more technically minded in search of a hyper-connected phone/PDA (we're talking GSM/GPRS, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth in a single device).

We'll have a bit more on some of the other iPAQs released today as it comes in, at least if its anything new and interesting (most of the details seem to be the same as we reported pre-release), but for now here's some of the dirty details on the h6315.
