Five Speed Software today announced iGet 2.0, its next-generation file transfer software for Mac OS X. The new version sports many major new features, the most notable of which is a new remote search feature that takes full advantage of Apple's new Spotlight technology. It also boasts dozens of other new features, including Automator integration, a Dash Board quick-connect widget, URL support, the ability to save connection shortcuts, support for Finder labels, connecting to custom port numbers, realtime throughput reporting, etc.

A beta test version will be made available on April 29, 2005, alongside the release of version 10.4 of Apple's Mac OS X operating system, with the final version being released shortly thereafter.

Five Speed Software Inc. on Thursday released iGet 1.0, a file transfer application for Mac OS X that features resumable transfers, support for SSH encryption, supports Rendezvous, and is optimized to work on DSL, cable and dialup Internet connections. The software was previously available as a beta version. iGet transfers also keep intact Mac-specific file attributes like resource forks, HFS metadata, packages, aliases and Unicode file names. iGet 1.0 costs US$24.95 and requires Mac OS X v10.3 or higher.
