Tiger vs. Dictator

Tiger vs. Dictator 03/06/2004 02:02 AM

I have updated my Coup d'eta post with a picture you might enjoy.

dictator 0.9.4 (Default branch)

dictator 0.9.4 (Default branch) 04/19/2005 04:19 AM
Screenshot Dictator is a program for on-screen reading of text files, developed with the intention of making it easier to read some of the fine electronic texts available on the net, such as those produced by The Gutenberg Project. The problem with these texts is that reading them on screen is not particularly pleasant and printing them out is even less pleasant. Dictator employs the Rapid Serial Visual Projection (RSVP) method of displaying words consecutively in the same place, at a user-controllable rate. In theory, this method prevents unconscious re-reading of adjacent text and decreases the tendency of the reader to oralise the text, allowing for increased reading speeds. It also allows the use of larger fonts for text display which improves text clarity.
Changes:
This release adds file history, customisable text filters (e.g. open PDF, DOC, RTF), URL open, customisable Web references, simple text search, navigation by paragraph, the ability to open from clipboard (wxPython 2.5 only), some help documentation, a multiple size icon set for Windows, and the ability for text to wrap in wxSTC.

Dictator 0.9.2 (Default branch)

Dictator 0.9.2 (Default branch) 04/11/2005 03:52 AM
Screenshot Dictator is an on-screen reading application for text files that was intended for use with The Gutenberg Project. The problem with these texts is that reading them on screen is not particularly pleasant and printing them out is worse.
Changes:
All colours and fonts are now customisable. Font dialogs are now disabled in full-screen mode with wxPython 2.4 due to problems. A layout bug was fixed in the bookmarks dialog. Rate change at very slow speeds was fixed to avoid delayed response. Old configuration files are now ignored if they are incompatible.
