the by-now familiar widescreen aspect ratio found across almost all of
Apple's pro hardware line, and sport dual FireWire 400 and USB 2.0
ports, and use DVI to connect to video cards instead of Apple's
vaunted ADC interface -- making the new monitors compatible

What would make Apple announce a upgraded Xserve
G5 just a week before MacWorld? Could it be that they're so crammed
full of new product announcements that they're actually pushing stuff
out early? Wishful thinking, perhaps, and idle besides—this
2.3GHz Dual G5 rackmounted machine is a beaut. Why can't all my
machines be rackmounted, huh? If I didn't play videogames, I could
ditch these goofy square machines forever.
Slightly more plebian, though, is news that Apple has dropped the
price of the Cinema Displays, starting with the 20-inch model for
$1,000, up to the 30-inch for three large. (Thanks,
Lawrence!)
