PowerStrip v3.50

PowerStrip v3.50

PowerStrip v3.50 06/29/2004 05:09 PM

Designed to complement the native Windows Display Properties sheet under Microsoft Windows 95/98/NT/2000, the PowerStrip combines advanced, multi-monitor API support with extensive programmable hardware support. A simple toolbar and menu that pops up from the system tray provides configuration and fast access to your favorite display settings, incremental enlargement and reduction of desktop size, comprehensive color calibration controls with gamma hotkeys, the ability to associate specific applications with custom display settings, graphics system diagnostics, flexible font controls, extensive hotkey and screen saver support, a database of over 1500 monitors, and on-the-fly color depth, resolution and refresh rate switching. Additionally, the PowerStrip includes direct hardware support for many chips, permitting an unprecedented degree of control over your display sub-system, particularly under Windows NT. Multi-Modal Human-Machine Communication

Multi-Modal Human-Machine Communication 06/05/2005 11:13 PM
Just in time to use it with your new Shadow Robot Hand, the authors of a 2002 paper on human-machine coordinated grasping tasks have released their paper online. The full title of the paper is Multi-Modal Human-Machine Communication for Instructing Robot Grasping Tasks (PDF format). The problem facing researchers was that of how a normal, non-technical human could instruct a robot to grasp and manipulate objects. The robot needs to combine speech recognition with non-verbal clues such as gestural commands. The robot also has to coordinate its understanding of the task with its perception of the environment. This work was done by Patrick McGuire and other researchers. You may remember Patrick McGuire from the Cyborg Astrobiologist project that we've reported on in the past.
