Can someone ping this entry with a TrackBack? Let me know what (if any) error you get. A few folks have told me that my TB is broken and I seem to be getting way fewer TrackBacks that normal. I suspect it's related to my recent upgrade to MT 2.63 but am not sure where to begin debugging this yet. I will have to search around a bit in the morning and see if this is some sort of known...

Debian: Where should
we
we should go from
here?
06/17/2005 06:46 PM
Debian sarge has finally been released -- now what? If you ask me (and you didn't, but I'm going to tell you anyway), Debian should have two overarching priorities for the next release: 1. putting a timed release cycle in place, so what happened with sarge never happens again; and 2. keeping the growing family of Debian derivatives united around a common core -- namely, Debian itself. What's at stake? If we don't do something about both of these problems, actual and potential, Debian will be irrelevant by the time etch is out.

Iraqi first strike before the American

Iraqi first strike before the American
first strike?
03/15/2003 04:09 AM
ABC news is reporting that the US is worried that Iraq may strike first before we can strike first. I don't wish any harm on the American troops overseas (or on the poor Iraqi soldiers either, for that matter), but the logic of the outrage about this escapes me. We are proclaiming our right to strike preemptively and unilaterally, where we see a threat that might appear in the future, and we are actively preparing to strike at Iraq. What logic allows us to be outraged if Iraq reacts to this threat by striking at the troops ringing her borders? Incidents like these are why the Europeans have concluded that Americans have gone off their rockers....

Experiences of the day

Experiences of the day 05/31/2004 05:20 PM
Bugger. Missed Misu. But, on the other hand, I had my first official riding lesson today, and got even a couple of compliments during the day. One from the riding instructor ("You sit really well"), and one from a colleague at work:

"Everything is always complex with you."

That kinda surprised me. I don't know. Is it?

Today, I came home, completely drenched (it rained throughout the entire lesson). I hung my wet clothes to dry, slipped into some comfortable clothes, pulled on some thick woollen socks, and made myself a couple of sandwiches (from wonderful, fresh rye bread) and a large cup of cocoa. Then I curled on the sofa and watched two episodes from the fourth season of Babylon 5 from a freshly opened package.

I'm not that complex. Really.

Simon Brown: "If you've not seen AppleScript, it's a cross between a 3rd generation language and english. There's a fairly good language guide on the Apple website, although it's no tutorial. The script editor itself works well and I particularly like the way it auto-indents when you save or compile."

eBay Motors experiences? 01/09/2004 09:46 PM
I spent about 20 minutes poking around on eBay motors today, mostly because I'm trying to understand the market for vehicles capable of towing a glider trailer--think used pickup truck or a 6-8 year old SUV (Nissan Pathfinder, Toyota 4Runner, etc). I must say, I'm underwhelmed. The pickings are so much better over in the autos section of craigslist. Anyone out there ever bought a car via eBay Motors? I'm curious to hear about it. I really don't think I'd...
