Cantina, Part I
05/24/2004 03:43 PM
Our Power of the Force 2 Photo Archives turns into a wretched hive of scum and villainy with today's update. As we peek into the Mos Eisley Cantina, we quickly spot the surly bartender, Wuher, who keeps an eye out for unruly customers. And he's got quite a numer of patrons to keep an eye on, like these Cantina Aliens: the Devaronian spy Labria, the Moorseerian pilot Nabrun Leids, and the Snivvian artist Takeel.

While Chalmun's Cantina in Mos Eisley isn't really the kind of place where everybody knows your name, today's Power of the Force 2 Photo Archives update should help in identifying some of the local patrons. The Shistavanen scout Lak Sivrak, the Kubasz spy Garindan and the Chadra-Fan/Talz team of thieves, Kabe and Muftak, would all probably rather remain anonymous.

Photo Archives: OTC Spirit Obi-Wan

Photo Archives: OTC Spirit Obi-Wan 07/08/2004 12:14 PM
Today's Photo Archives update continues the "Dagobah Training" theme with Spirit Obi-Wan who comes back from the dead in The Empire Strikes Back to watch over his pupil. Old Ben shimmers and glows spectacularly as part of the Original Trilogy Collection.

Photo Archives: OTC TIE Fighter

Photo Archives: OTC TIE Fighter 06/02/2004 01:26 PM
Our Original Trilogy Collection Photo Archives gets its first official entry today with the "new" version of the TIE Fighter. This vehicle is the same version as last year's Saga release, only this time there is no pilot included. Look for the TIE Fighter Pilot to come separately later this year.

Vintage Photo Archives: 8D8

Vintage Photo Archives: 8D8 12/15/2003 02:28 AM
How is it that 8D8, a mute white robot that looks like it belongs on a Pete Townsend album cover could be a popular action figure? Well, in the case of 8D8, there is the whole Star Wars character angle, plus like many kids, this guy liked taking out his aggressions on pool little Power Droids. So it would seem a no-brainer… Well, except that today's addition to the Vintage Photo Archive wasn’t really a popular action figure. Chances are, anyone with hours on their hands (like any toy collector doesn’t have too much of that) could probably still find a couple of these carded at their local mom and pop toy store. Hint: Look behind the Bionic Six action figures in the discount bin.

Photo Archives: OTC Snowtrooper

Photo Archives: OTC Snowtrooper 08/27/2004 01:38 PM
Our Photo Archives is updated today with the Original Trilogy Collection version of the Empire's Blizzard Force footsoldier, Snowtrooper from The Empire Strikes Back. This time around, this figure has a slightly darker jumpsuit, although the accessories remain as deadly as ever.

Photo Archives: OTC Greedo

Photo Archives: OTC Greedo 08/23/2004 06:54 AM
Our Photo Archives is updated today with the Original Trilogy Collection version of the Rodian bounty hunter Greedo. While the debate continues as to who shot first in that Mos Eisley Cantina scene from A New Hope, the end result is the same...poor Greedo is still dead.

Complete with a 24 phrases and soft goods clothing, this version of Yoda is based on his appearance in The Empire Strikes Back. As an added bonus, we've also added the Saga version of Ask Yoda as well, although his outfit is from Attack of the Clones.

Vintage Photo Archives: EV-9D9

Vintage Photo Archives: EV-9D9 01/05/2004 02:25 AM
Believe it or not, EV-9D9, the creepy tobacco throated droid from Jabba’s Palace, was actually a female droid! Yes, that’s right, in the old days of Star Wars today’s addition to the Vintage Photo Archive shared the pages of the annual ‘Hot Chicks In A Galaxy Far, Far Away…’ calendar. Humana. Humana. Humana.

Vintage Photo Archives: 4-LOM

Vintage Photo Archives: 4-LOM 11/14/2003 01:20 AM
Most vintage collectors will argue to no end that Kenner's vintage Star Wars line was flawless, but even the most die-hard out there will agree that the toymaker did mess up once. The mistake in question deals partially with the 4-LOM action figure. It seems that the hard working people at Kenner had somehow mixed his and Zuckuss's names up. As a result, to vintage collectors, today’s addition to the Vintage Photo Archive will always be 4-LOM. But for those of you that read this column daily, it is, of course, all old news…

Vintage Photo Archives: Klaatu

Vintage Photo Archives: Klaatu 12/09/2003 02:41 AM
The vintage Klaatu figure may seem like nothing more than a plastic representation of one of the many thugs on the payroll of one Jabba The Hutt. To a vintage variation collector, however, today’s addition to the Vintage Photo Archive is evil... pure, unadulterated evil.

Vintage Photo Archives: Nikto

Vintage Photo Archives: Nikto 12/16/2003 01:56 AM
Despite how simplistic the vintage Nikto figure appears to be, it is one of the most faithful sculpts to be found in the Kenner line. As a matter of fact, save the yellow lines that were on the character’s pants, today’s addition to the Vintage Photo Archive proves that the people at Kenner were not only very concerned with making top quality toys that best represented the film, they wanted to make toys worthy of the children that they made the toys for. There is little doubt that Kenner ‘really did care’ about more than the bottom line and it showed.

Photo Archives: OTC Carry Cases

Photo Archives: OTC Carry Cases 09/09/2004 12:10 AM
Our Photo Archives is updated today with the Wal-Mart exclusive Carry Cases from the Original Trilogy Collection. Based on previously-released versions, each case includes two action figures to start your collection. C-3PO comes with Han Solo and Chewbacca, while Darth Vader includes Boba Fett and a Stormtrooper.

Vintage Photo Archives: Amanaman

Vintage Photo Archives: Amanaman 01/22/2004 02:13 AM
Virtually unheard of in the vintage line, the Amanaman action figure is actually a little too large to be the correct scale. Nonetheless, with it’s ultra accurate sculpt and paint job, not to mention the staff ‘o heads, today’s addition to the Vintage Photo Archive is one of the greatest achievements in the entire Kenner collection.

Photo Archives: VOTC Obi-Wan Kenobi

Photo Archives: VOTC Obi-Wan Kenobi 07/15/2004 03:38 AM
Our Photo Archives is updated with the next in the new special Vintage-style Original Trilogy Collection figures from A New Hope. The ultimate version of Obi-Wan Kenobi, this figure perfectly captures every detail of the crazy old hermit-turned-Jedi Master. Photo Archives: VOTC Yoda

Photo Archives: VOTC Yoda 08/20/2004 10:53 AM
Our Photo Archives is updated with the next in the new special Vintage-style Original Trilogy Collection figures from The Empire Strikes Back. The ultimate version of Yoda, this figure perfectly captures every detail of the Jedi Master. Pose him limping through the swamps of Dagobah, using the Force to lift sunken ships, or showing off his sexy legs (that's right---legs!), this figure can do it all!

Vintage Photo Archives: Zuckuss

Vintage Photo Archives: Zuckuss 11/13/2003 01:59 AM
Most vintage collectors will argue to no end that Kenner's vintage Star Wars line was flawless, but even the most die-hard out there will agree that the toymaker did mess up once. The mistake in question deals partially with the Zuckuss action figure. It seems that the hard working people at Kenner had somehow mixed his and 4-LOM's names up. As a result, to vintage collectors, today’s addition to the Vintage Photo Archive will always be Zuckuss.

Photo Archives: OTC X-Wing Fighter 06/03/2004 12:17 PM
"X-Wing Day" continues in our Photo Archives with a "new" version of the X-Wing Fighter, this time from the Original Trilogy Collection. This vehicle is based on 1995's POTF2 version, only this time the electronics are not included. Stay tuned for more X-Wing updates!

Photo Archives: Jedi Warriors

Photo Archives: Jedi Warriors 03/06/2004 02:00 AM
Our Photo Archives turns into a battlefield today with a new multipack of Jedi Warriors. Right out of Attack of the Clones, Obi-Wan Kenobi is trapped in the Geonosian containment field, and it's up to Plo Koon, Saesee Tiin, and Fi-Ek Sirch to rescue him.

Photo Archives: Unleashed Chewbacca

Photo Archives: Unleashed Chewbacca 02/13/2004 12:09 PM
Our Photo Archives is updated today with the Unleashed Chewbacca figure from A New Hope. Proving that it's not wise to upset a Wookiee, the co-pilot of the Millennium Falcon growls in a berserker rage at anyone who threatens those under his protection.

Vintage Photo Archives: Yak Face

Vintage Photo Archives: Yak Face 01/23/2004 03:58 AM
Much like the Vinyl Cape Jawa and Blue Snaggletooth, Yak Face will always be a famous and sought after Star Wars collectible, both from die-hard collectors in the Star Wars community and outside as well. Though considered to be quite rare, eBay has proven to have them available in fairly decent quantities on a nearly daily basis. Nonetheless, it’s perceived to be unbelievably rare –which isn’t all together true- and therefore warrants higher than average prices. On a side note, with this post we finish the first part of our Vintage Photo Archive. Be sure to check out part two coming this summer to a galaxy near you…

"Dagobah Training" ends today in our Photo Archives update, which features the loyal astromech droid R2-D2. This Original Trilogy Collection figure includes special lights and all-new sounds, all dirty and grimy from the scene in The Empire Strikes Back.

Photo Archives: VOTC Han Solo

Photo Archives: VOTC Han Solo 07/09/2004 01:54 AM
Our Photo Archives adds the first in the new special Vintage-style Original Trilogy Collection figures, this time from A New Hope. The ultimate version of Han Solo, this figure perfectly captures every detail of the cocky Corellian captain of the Millennium Falcon. Pose him in the cockpit, firing at a squad of Stormtroopers, or blasting bounty hunters in the Mos Eisley Cantina, this figure can do it all!

Vintage Photo Archives: Too-Onebee
(2-1B)

Vintage Photo Archives: Too-Onebee
(2-1B)
11/04/2003 02:01 AM
Sure the vintage 2-1B action figure was Johnny-on-the-spot whenever a farm boy needed to get some serious plastic surgery or a new bio-mechanic hand, but what has he done for the Rebellion lately? More than you know pal, more than you'll ever know! For instance, whom do you think the Rebels turn to on New Year's Eve for a designated driver? Who do you think shovels the walks on the Hoth base and scrubs the moss of the Ewok suspension bridges on the Forest moon of Endor? That's right, the good old medical droid, that's who. Today’s addition to the Vintage Photo Archive doesn't mind much though, since it keeps the Rebels off his precious collection of medical gurneys.

Photo Archives: Medal of Yavin

Photo Archives: Medal of Yavin 02/13/2004 12:52 AM
Our Master Replicas Photo Archives is updated today with the perfect reward for heroes of the Rebel Alliance. The Medal of Yavin shown here is a prototype of the finished product, as you'll see in the plaque. Now collectors can have their own ceremonial scene from A New Hope...space princess not included.

Vintage Photo Archives: Pruneface

Vintage Photo Archives: Pruneface 12/10/2003 02:16 AM
Generally speaking, vintage collectors disregard virtually everything the Expanded Universe has offered to the Star Wars community. Even though they still call him Pruneface instead of “Orrimaarko.”, all have to agree that the EU did answer the age old question that overshadows all others in the vintage community: ...Who’s this guy???... With it’s rather ambiguous card back photo, most collectors thought today’s addition to the Vintage Photo Archive was based on one of the myriad characters from Jabba’s Palace who got a millisecond of screen time in Return Of The Jedi. As it turns out, he ended up being a rebel dude from the second act... who only got a millisecond of screen time in Return Of The Jedi.

Photo Archives: OTC Cloud Car Pilot

Photo Archives: OTC Cloud Car Pilot 07/14/2004 03:19 AM
Our Photo Archives is updated today with one of the most-requested characters from The Empire Strikes Back...the Cloud Car Pilot! Loaded with multiple points of articulation, a removable helmet, and tons of detail for his Original Trilogy Collection debut, there's really only one question left on his mind...."Dude, where's my car?"

Photo Archives Update: OTC Cardbacks

Photo Archives Update: OTC Cardbacks 09/02/2004 12:05 PM
It's all about the packaging with the Original Trilogy Collection this year. Not only do we get the cards we've always wanted to buy, but we also get the cards the toy designers have always wanted to make! As I've been getting luckier with my toy hunts recently, I've been scanning in the cardbacks to show off the great backgrounds that are part of this line. I don't have them all yet, but what I have scored has been added to our Photo Archives today.

Vintage Photo Archives: Lobot

Vintage Photo Archives: Lobot 10/31/2003 01:41 AM
Perhaps the vintage Lobot action figure isn't as exciting as, say, either of the Bespin guards or the Cloud Car pilot, but he certainly was an intriguing character in the film, and that likely had a lot to do with today’s addition to the Vintage Photo Archive’s success on the toy shelves-- That or maybe it was the fancy shirts he had a proclivity for wearing that Star Wars fans went nuts for.

Photo Archives: Stormtrooper Blaster

Photo Archives: Stormtrooper Blaster 02/07/2005 01:09 AM
Today we update our Master Replicas Photo Archives with the BlasTech E-11 Blaster Pistol, or the Stormtrooper Blaster, which was used by the soldiers of the Empire in A New Hope.

Vintage Photo Archives: Bib Fortuna

Vintage Photo Archives: Bib Fortuna 12/02/2003 12:27 AM
Even though he lived in a nice house in a neighbourhood pretty close to the bright center of the galaxy, Bib Fortuna got teased a lot when he was in junior high. As if it isn’t awkward enough for the poor guy to put up with the challenges of puberty whilst dealing with the fact that he’d never win any beauty contests, today's addition to the Vintage Photo Archive had to deal with having a name that was simply begging to be used against him. It’s no wonder the young wallflower grew up to hang out with smelly do-no-gooders with down right silly names on the planet furthest from.

Photo Archives: Skirmish At Carkoon

Photo Archives: Skirmish At Carkoon 06/08/2004 04:28 AM
Our Photo Archives is updated today with the Skirmish at Carkoon multipack, featuring a trio of Jabba's Skiff Guards, a kit-bashed Han Solo, and a Sail Barge Cannon. Watch these guys get swallowed up by the Sarlacc from the scene in Return of the Jedi.

Vintage Photo Archives: Paploo

Vintage Photo Archives: Paploo 01/01/2004 01:03 AM
Along with his good buddy Teebo, Paploo here owned the ewok Village… at least according the Return Of the Jedi novel. Sadly, for whatever reason, today’s addition to the Vintage Photo Archive is represented as nothing g more than a nameless character in the film. Well, a nameless character who stole a speeder Bike and essentially gave the Rebel Alliance the ability to deaf the Evil Galactic Empire that is.

Vintage Photo Archives: Romba

Vintage Photo Archives: Romba 01/08/2004 07:14 PM
Romba was a good looking Ewok and he knew it. When compared to all his mates, he’s the only one who doesn’t look like a creepy pint-sized rag-wearing bear with a sharp stick, a fact that likely makes today’s addition to the Vintage Photo Archive popular with all the Ewok hotties. Maybe that’s why this handsome pint-sized rag-wearing bear with a sharp stick always had a smile on his face.

Photo Archives: Han Solo Blaster

Photo Archives: Han Solo Blaster 03/19/2003 10:25 PM
Collectors can now take aim at their enemies with Han Solo's Blaster from A New Hope, the latest addition to our Photo Archives. This prop from Master Replicas is just the thing every Corellian smuggler could ask for and is movie accurate right down to the smallest detail.

Photo Archives: Thermal Detonators

Photo Archives: Thermal Detonators 01/16/2004 11:05 AM
When Princess Leia disguised herself as the Ubese bounty hunter Boushh, she brought along a little insurance to bargain with. Our Master Replicas Photo Archives is updated today with three versions of the Thermal Detonator: an As First Built Edition, a Limited Edition and a Signature Edition autographed by none other than Carrie Fisher, the actress who portrayed the Rebel Alliance leader in the Classic Trilogy.
