Sun selling big on eBay

Sun selling big on eBay 08/04/2004 09:57 AM
Selling expensive items of hardware are no rarity on eBay; planes, homes, cars, all are items that get traded on the the popular auction site. However, Sun Microsystems are taking their eBay partnership to a new hight.

"Sun is aggressively engaging with ... alternate markets, such as eBay, to generate new sales models where customers set the price," said John Fowler, executive vice president of Sun's Network Systems Group. "The success of recent eBay auctions has exceeded expectations. Sun provides support for its highly scalable and reliable Solaris OS, Red Hat Linux, and SUSE Linux, with servers and workstations certified for Microsoft Windows -- the broadest operating system support in the industry."

If you are interested in getting some Sun gear on the cheap, check out the Sun site on eBay below.

Selling On eBay As A PR Tactic

Selling On eBay As A PR Tactic 12/18/2003 02:13 PM
It just won't stop. If you have something odd or strange to sell the trick is to put it up on eBay. Not just because it's the marketplace where many people go, but big or weird items on eBay are like an automatic ticket to press coverage. So, despite the fact that it's been done before, a town in Arizona is trying to sell itself on eBay. Basically, eBay has become both a selling platform and a publicity platform.

Army Unveils New Uniforms

Army Unveils New Uniforms 06/15/2004 05:25 AM

vert.uniform.ap.jpg imageThe Army unveiled their new uniform, with a new camouflage sporting a green, tan, and gray mixture (based on a similar Marine Corps design) that is meant to work in all environments, from the concrete jungle to the forest jungle to the, uhm, sand jungle. Replacing many of the buttons with zippers and Velcro for easy access (including lots of new pockets for gear and gizmos), the new uniforms are looser and more able to integrate with the increasing amount of body armor being worn by soldiers in ongoing campaigns. This is the first major update to the uniform since 1981, when the Army declared all soldiers must wear pants in combat.

Japanese Uniforms Book

Japanese Uniforms Book 05/31/2004 08:15 PM
officeladyWhen I went to Japan a couple of weeks ago, I kind of became obsessed with the uniforms everybody wears there. My friend Todd let me know about a series of Japanese uniform books that J-List sells, like this "Office Lady Uniform Pictorial Book Part 1":
For fans of the sailor uniform books, here's a "Chinkame" format photobook (pocket-sized) photobook of the beautiful uniforms of Japan's OLs (office ladies) -- those dedicated to serving tea and working on copy machines across the country. A super full-color publication documenting the cutest blazers, skirts, outfits and different uniform styles as introduced to you by the hottest current race queens. Famous uniforms of famous companies (NTT Docomo, Seibu Bus Company, BMW, etc) from across the country, with information on the style of the uniform as well as the girl modeling it. This is volume 1 a perfect bound, soft cover book that will look great on your coffee table

GPS-Enabled School Uniforms

GPS-Enabled School Uniforms 04/14/2005 01:25 PM

gps_uniforms_sorta.jpgJapanese school uniform maker Ogo-Sangyo Company has released their newest advancement in uniform technology: GPS-enabled blazers. The GPS terminals, located inside the uniforms, can communicate back to parents (or potential kidnappers, naturally) the location of their children, allowing them to know exactly how many stops at the okashiya they made on their way home. The terminals are built by Secom, whose GPS devices showed up in similarly-intended GPS satchels.

C-BAND=BS 07/08/2004 10:48 AM
On September 24 2001, stock in Stewart Kaiser's start-up company R-Tec was selling for 46 cents a share. That day, Kaiser issued a press release about R-Tec's new device called C-BAND (Chemical & Biological Alarm and Neutralization Defense System.) Four days later, R-Tec shares had risen to $2.40 each and Kaiser sold the 50,000 shares he had just given to his mother. The funny thing is that C-BAND was actually nothing more than a filing cabinet painted yellow and outfitted with a flashing red light. Today, Kaiser and his wife were indicted for securities fraud, obstructing justice, and other bad things. Link
