Steigerwald will pay Apple an unspecified amount, but News.com quoted Apple as saying, "It is not our desire to send students to jail." In an email to .Mac members, Apple has announced that on December 2, 2003, iDisks will have coverted completely to WebDAV protocol. This means that OS 9 users will no longer be able to use the Finder to connect but will instead need to use a third party WebDAV client. OS X has WebDAV capabilities built in, so OS X users should notice no change. On December 2, affected users (those using OS 9) will be able to download files from the iDisk but will not be able to upload. On Janary 20, 2004, however, the only protocol that will access the iDisk will be WebDAV and all OS 9 access will need to be with a WebDAV client. Goliath is a free, open-source WebDAV client, and is recommended by Apple for those who are still running OS 9.
