Rebelscout: A New Group Of Signals 06/25/2004 05:28 PM

Emails coming in from several sectors; it appears Toys 'R' Us stores are receiving the latest OTC vehicles. Original Trilogy editions of the X-Wing, TIE Fighter, and Darth Vader's TIE are showing up, as well as the repackaged (and slightly modified) Millennium Falcon! Most reports indicated the ships are moving quickly, call or head to your local TRU now to increase your odds. Happy hunting!

We've received a few reports of late regarding new toys on the shelf; Schwabie and Sergio chime in with word the second wave of Clone Wars Animated figures have hit Target stores in Burbank, CA and El Paso, TX. Would be shoppers beware. Another report from last week appears to be baring fruit, Matt Rardon reports findning the latest wave of Unleashed figures (Chewbacca, Luke Pilot, and Clone Trooper) at his local comic shop in the San Francisco area. We had heard Diamond Comics had started to ship these out last week, looks like they are starting to hit the floor. Happy hunting!

Rebelscout: Stay On Target 09/24/2004 01:58 PM
Walked into my local So Cal Target this AM to find waves 2 and 3 of Hasbro's Galactic Heroes (Attack of the Clones and Bounty Hunter sets). Also, scored myself one of the exclusive OTC Slave 1's by way of the DCPI# (087-06-0310). While I have yet to see Boba and his trademark vehicle on the shelf, cases are begining to arrive at many stores and show on hand in the warehouse. Happy Hunting!

Many reports coming in over the last couple days of OTC basic figures showing up in and around Atlanta, Georgia. Wal-Mart appears to be 'the place' for the moment, but expect them at other retailers, and other areas soon. One isolated report of OTC Vintage figures found at a Comic Shop today in Maine, keep those eyes peeled. Target stores are slashing prices on a number of items in their toy departments. Included in the reductions, Clone Wars Animated figures are now being priced under $6. Finally, AFT's own (and fellow geek) Julius Marx reports his local Southern California Toys 'R' Us store played host to a cool half dozen of their exclusive Jedi Council Scene #1 (Yoda, Qui-Gon Jinn, and Ki Adi Mundi) today. Happy hunting!

Military To Jam GPS Signals

Military To Jam GPS Signals 06/14/2004 03:33 AM
If you're out on a boat on the east coast this week, don't expect to rely on your GPS navigation system. It appears that the government isn't just interested in jamming mobile phones for military reasons - but are now testing systems to jam GPS signals along the east coast as well. They've been trying to get the message out, but it's likely that some people out on their boats may find themselves a bit less sure of where they are. Of course, it was partly because of this very threat of US jamming of GPS signals that Europe has been working on their own satellite location system, Galileo - which will be independent of military control. This also might mean that any jamming by the US of GPS won't much matter once Galileo is up and running.

Pedestrian Turn Signals, Huh?

Pedestrian Turn Signals, Huh? 07/23/2004 01:25 PM

pedestrian.jpg
Hello again, Gizmodeans and Gizmodettes. As Joel said, I'm here to take over for the day. As he didn't say, I am so very not good at gadget news. I've been searching all morning for gadget news, and everything I find has already been on Gizmodo for days or weeks on end.

So here is the first of the many really uninteresting things I've found that seem to be new: Pedestrian turn signals (spotted on The Red Ferret Journal). They fit behind your ear and are wired to a little controller that lets you turn one or both of them on. I have no idea if they even blink. Sorry.

At the end of the day, I'll link to a really cool game that I think you'll all like, but until then, please don't yell at Joel when I link to stupid things like this and cool things that have already been on Gizmodo. I'm using the convenient Search box at the top of the site, but who truly knows what V770s, S320s, and SXRDs lurk in the heart of the Big G? Well, besides all of you and none of me.
