CS Odessa on Tuesday introduced Project Documentation Suite, a collection of software for Mac OS X and Windows that helps users with their project doucmentation needs. The suite includes LeadingProject 1.1, a project management tool, and ConceptDraw V, business and technical diagramming software. Available for US$349, the suite represents a $249 savings compared with purchasing the software separately, according to CS Odessa. System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.2 or higher, G3 or faster, 128MB RAM and 20MB hard drive space.

Screenshot Ghost for Linux is a hard disk and partition imaging and cloning tool similar to "Norton Ghost"(c) and (tm) by Symantec. The created images are optionally compressed, and they can be stored on a local hard drive or transferred to an anonymous FTP server. A drive can be cloned using the "Click'n'Clone" function. g4l supports file splitting if the local filesystem does not support writing files >2GB. The included kernel supports ATA, serial-ATA, and SCSI drives. Common network cards are supported. It is packaged as a bootable CD image with an ncurses GUI for easy use.

Novell chief executive Jack Messman sat down with ZDNet UK on Monday at BrainShare in Barcelona, and gave a typically combative take on the current state of the software industry. According to Messman, Microsoft is under immense pressure to ship Longhorn before Linux becomes an even more compelling alternative to Windows. "Microsoft's strategy is simple: to be able to sell something to keep their customers engaged," he said. Messman also claimed that Microsoft opted to release the WinFS file system as a separate product and ship Longhorn sooner rather than give Linux more time to mature.
