Napster: Boo! Rio: Yay!

Napster: Boo! Rio: Yay! 05/28/2004 10:57 PM
At 3pm, I bought my daughter a Samsung-Napster MP3 player. Deciding among the indiscernibles, the Napster's ability to broadcast to an FM channel for wireless car connectivity sold me. At 7:30pm, I returned the Napster and got a Rio Karma. I had a bad feeling about the Napster from the moment I started installing the software. It kept adding layers and layers of cruft, forcing me to upgrade my Windows Media Player, bundling in a CD burner, forcing me to register at Napster.com...window after window of incomprehensible files and DLLs until I wanted to scream that it ought to take...

Napster and the Sun

Napster and the Sun 07/27/2004 12:25 AM

More from Rafat.....

The Saturday edition of The Sun will have a unique identifier code allowing readers to go to napster .co.uk and download a single track for free. The promotion will be repeated for the next seven weeks, giving loyal Sun readers a total of eight free tracks from Napster's 750,000 strong database.

At the end of the two months, The Sun and Napster will offer a free one-month subscription to the music download service.

This sounds totally cool. Promotions are starting to make sense. I wanna get paid in music to do things. And in hard copy prints, books and DVD burns.

How low can Napster go? Desperate much? 02/05/2005 09:07 PM
I was looking thru the info of Napster to go, just out of curiosity. I clicked on the link for "Look at compatible MP3 players, and it was the standard Dell, Creative, Gateway MP3 players. At the top of the list, they say, "Got an iPod, click here" and when you do it sends you to this page.

That is really really desperate if you ask me.

Roxio To Become Napster

Roxio To Become Napster 08/09/2004 08:29 PM
It's been less than two years since Roxio snapped up Napster's assets. While they've been doing their best to divert student fees at universities to Napster, overall the offerin g has struggled. Still, it apparently appears like a better bet than Roxio's boring old consumer software division, so they've decided to get out of that business entirely, rename themselves Napster, and focus on losing money to the RIAA on every sale.
