Report: Hotmail To Offer 250 MB Free
Storage
06/24/2004 10:01 AM

NeoWin has details on the storage plans that MSN allegedly is set to announce as soon as this evening. According to what looks to be an internal Microsoft e-mail, MSN is planning to offer Hotmail users 250 MB of free storage (surpassing the 100 MB limit Yahoo is now providing to its free e-mail subscribers), and for $19.99 per year, 2 GB of e-mail storage to paying subscribers.

Let me see pay Hotmail $19.95 a year for 2 gigs of storage or get 150 megs for free so long as I login once every 30 days to make sure the account does not get deleted or have virtually unlimited free storage on Gmail. Seems like a no brainer to me. Nice try in playing catch up. I think though since I have a paid Hotmail account that I will copy all of the e-mail I have with attachments to the Hotmail account and fill it to the brim. Might as well get my $19.95 worth out of the account. [eWeek]

Aliencamel.com announces that the email-storage-space race is over. This race was started by Google's Gmail service offering 1GB of storage. AlienCamel has gone the final step and is now offering its users unlimited storage. By removing limits on space, users now have a simple, low-cost service which will keep their emails safe, secure and backed up forever. AlienCamel has implemented the most sophisticated anti-spam filtering and email-virus-blocking technology over the last 18 months. Now, AlienCamel is the first independent commercial email service in the world to offer "unlimited storage for personal email". [PRWEB Aug 17, 2004]

Hotmail Storage Increase Is Weeks Late 08/06/2004 09:50 AM
The folks who run MSN's Hotmail promised to deliver 250 megabytes of free storage to all users. That promise was made on the 4th of July, in a note that also said, "We will send an update on when and how these exciting changes will be made to your account within two weeks. Please check your email for this important update."

Users who have been checking have been sorely disappointed not to be hearing anything. So, while Yahoo! mail users and Gmail users -- those few who are beta testing the product, at least " have all the storage on Earth, or so it seems, Hotmail users are struggling along and making do with a measly two megabytes.

Have you ever been in a situation away from home when you wish you had access to a particular file? Whether it's a song, manuscript, spreadsheet, or anything else, it can be frustrating to not have the access to what you want - when you want it. I've been there, you've been there, we've all been there. One of the solutions to this perplexing problem is to upload your documents to a storage site on the Internet. This allows entry from any Web-enabled computer. It has been said that the best things in life are free, and I'm not going to disagree. Keeping that theme in mind, our site for today provides links to several free storage space providers.
