Writing For Packt: Packt Publishing has done a nice job here of shedding some light on how much you'd make if you wrote the ultimate tech book that I just know you've been contemplating.

This focused business model translates into higher royalty rates for you as an author: 15% of our net revenues on each copy sold up to 2,000; 20% of our net revenues on each copy for sales over 2,000 and less than 4,000; 25% of our net revenues on each copy sold on sales over 4,000...

They also have some information on why their direct publishing model results in more money in your pocket than traditional publishing.

It's awfully refreshing to see someone be so upfront about this.

This toolbox assists the XML content author and developer working with the new XML features of Word 2003. The Word XML Toolbox requires that .NET Programmability Support is enabled. For .NET Programmability Support to be installed during the Office 2003 setup, the PIAs require the .NET Framework 1.1 already be installed. It is recommended that you install the Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 before you install Microsoft Office 2003. With the .NET Framework 1.1 already installed, a complete installation of Office 2003 will install all of the PIAs.
