Powermac G5 Liquid Cooling Photos 06/23/2004 10:52 AM

g5_cooling_spy.jpg image

TechSeekers ("Ireland's Source for PC News." I'm not mocking, I think that's awesome) has some pictures of the liquid cooling units from the soon-to-be-shipping Apple Powermac G5 2.5GHz boxes, if you just absolutely must see them right at this minute. It looks to have the typical Apple fit and finish. Would it be too much to start referring to the cooling radiators as being filled with 'Apple juice?' (Thanks, Mharris!)

ThermalTake Liquid Cooling System-Rocket 03/28/2005 10:30 AM

cooling-rocket.jpgThermalTake is listing the 'Liquid Cooling System-Rocket,' a fanless water cooling system for PCs that uses a similar design to that of Zalman's Reserator. Unlike the Reserator, the System-Rocket's water pump is inside the case instead of inside the cooling tower itself, which means not only will it obviate an additional power cord, but should also make it easier to upgrade the pump if desired. And of course, the internal pump has an industry-standard blue LED, the international system symbol for 'Here Be Max-treme Computing.'

As obnoxiously phallic as these type of coolers are, they provide serious cooling with no fans at all, making for a very quiet PC.

It's been a couple of days since the big announcements, and now that the news has sunk in, questions are arising like "why Intel over AMD?" and "which Intel CPUs will Apple be using?" In this article, Ars CPU expert Jon "Hannibal" Stokes looks at Intel's road map and draws some conclusions as to where Intel's CPUs fit into Apple's product line.
