its just to wonderful to miss. "Mad Hot Ballroom" is a new
Paramount Classics documentary about a junior competitive ballroom
dancing circuit up north. To state the completely obvious, its like a
"
Spellbound
" with the kids dancing instead of spelling.

and is slated for release later this year. The trailer is up on the
Japanese site and looks damn cool. From what I can see Otomo has once
again created dazzling visuals -- the lush Victorian interiors and the
elegance of the mechanical designs (Steam Punk, anyone?) should leave
everyone in awe. The film cost 2.4 billion Yen (US$20.2m) to produce,
just a few dollars short of the 2.4 billion Yen that it cost to
produce Spirited Away, the most expensive Anime feature ever. In
contrast, Steam Boy comprises 180 000 cels, 1.5 times as many as
Spirited Away."

The film centers around Captain Malcolm Reynolds, a
hardened veteran (on the losing side) of a galactic civil war, who now
ekes out a living pulling off small crimes and transport-for-hire
aboard his ship, Serenity. He leads a small, eclectic crew who are
the closest thing he has left to family - squabbling, insubordinate
and undyingly loyal.

03/14/2005 04:23 PMOnce every three years, the first trailer for yet another crappy
George Lucas Star Wars movie is released somewhere to great fanfare.
And each time, I watch said trailer and get all excited. It looks
great, I'll say. Maybe it'll actually be good. My hopes start to rise.
And then the movie comes out, Natalie Portman is transformed by Lucas'
awful direction into the worst actress ever, and I leave the theatre
disappointed that a cherished childhood institution has been handled
in such a piss-poor manner. With the impending release of Episode III
and the trailer during last night's episode of The OC, I have vowed
not to get my hopes up. Never again, George Lucas, will you disappoint
me.
However.
OMFG THE TRAILER FOR THE NEW STAR WARS MOVIE IS SOOO GREAT AND
EXCITING AND THIS MOVIE IS GOING TO KICK SO MUCH ASS!!!
