Now a demo of Doom 3 is coming to Apple's Barton Creek retail store in Austin, Texas -- part of Aspyr Media's Inc.'s monthly "game night" event at the store, happening on February 18, 2005 at 7:00 PM.

A couple of weeks ago we ran a feature called "Confessions of a Cellphone Seller: The Sprint Edition," written by an in-store customer service representative for Sprint, and we've gotten nothing but good feedback about it on the whole, and we'll definitely be keeping it updated as new information and new products come in. What would be nice, though, is if we could get coverage of all the carriers, and that's where you, presuming you work as an in-store representative, come in.

Apple Computer Inc. opened its first retail store in Japan, and the first outside the U.S., to journalists Thursday ahead of its official opening this Sunday. The store, in the ritzy Ginza shopping district of Tokyo, covers five floors and includes a theater that can seat 84 people, a help desk and a classroom in addition to retail space. It will sell Apple's complete line of computers and peripherals, as well as a handful of products from other vendors, such as printers, scanners and digital cameras.

I'm writing this from the second floor of the Apple store on Michigan Avenue in downtown Chicago. We spent the day with the guys from 37 Signals at The Building of Basecamp Workshop. I'm on a little iMac, and I have to admit it's impressive....the store, I mean.

Everything is clear lucite, bleached wood, and concrete. Even the stairs are translucent plastic of some kind. I gotta say — Apple has a thing for style. There's a forty seat movie theater up here, but I have no idea what it's for.

I just called Rob and left him a message that I was standing in his own, personal Nirvana. I better get out of here, actually, because some of these machines are looking really nice (but how do you live without a scroll wheel?!).

The iMac I'm on has a little camera on top of it, and it's displaying real-time video of me, but I can't figure out how to get it to take a picture. You'll just have to take my word for it that I'm actually here.

Joe and I have a pizza waiting for us at the Pizzar ia Uno on Ontario and Ohio. Gotta run.
