Sandcrawler S.O.S.

Sandcrawler S.O.S. 04/28/2004 01:16 PM
While we anxiously await an official announcement from Hasbro regarding the future of the OTC Jawa Sandcrawler exclusive, we'd like to remind everyone to cast their vote in the current Probe Droid. The latest standings show 70% of the over 2,000 fans polled would indeed pay more than the previously suggested retail price of $33 in order to get the toy this year. It's still unknown if this long awaited vehicle has been picked up by another distributor, but numbers like that have to be reassuring to anyone considering taking the plunge. More news as soon as it's available, vote now before it's too late!

Sandcrawler Cancelled?

Sandcrawler Cancelled? 04/22/2004 11:52 AM
British news site the private universe has posted a story explaining that Hasbro's 2004 Jawa Sandcrawler has been cancelled. Before you knock it off your personal wish lists please bear in mind that its exclusive release has been highlighted by the Star Wars Insider and via several distributors in Europe. For the moment treat it, at worst, as cancelled in the United Kingdom only until we see an official statement.

A new Probe Droid has been launched! With rumblings that a deal for the Jawa Sandcrawler may have fallen through at retail, and rumors that a second source may be trying to make the item available, we thought it would be a good idea to see how badly collectors really want it. If it came down to a choice between not getting this toy, or paying more for it that the suggested $33, what would you do? Look for the new Probe Droid ballot now and cast your vote today. *This poll will end Wednesday night - cast your vote, and be sure to tell a friend!

Sandcrawler: SAVED!!! 06/02/2004 11:42 AM
Our friends at Action-Figure.com have filed this story that Diamond Comics has saved the 2004 Jawa Sandcrawler, and Rebelscum.com has received confirmation from Diamond stockists that has informed its customers that they can take pre-orders with the knowledge that they will receive this item (due out this Fall). Bar any distribution hiccups the Sandcrawler will be available throughout the world so check out our sponsors for pre-order opportunities. Top marks to karnorjax for the heads up.

Australian Sandcrawler

Australian Sandcrawler 06/19/2004 02:59 AM
Mick from mousedroid.com writes in to help keep our Australian readers up to date with this story. He says that he found out today that the Jawa Sandcrawler is an open Hasbro Australia item, which explains why Diamond Comics aren't carrying it in Australia. Both major and independent retailers can all order it direct from Hasbro - so far Toys "R" Us and Case Fresh.com have taken it up.

Sandcrawler Availability News

Sandcrawler Availability News 06/17/2004 01:12 PM
It would seem that Diamond Comics won't be making the Sandcrawler available throughout the world according to their latest update. If you read through to the bottom you will see that it says "Not available in Australia or Japan." Before you get hot under the collar consider that there may be other distributors in these countries that will make it available, and failing that there is still the option of going through our sponsors or even www.starwarsshop.com

When Is Unlimited Quite Limited?

When Is Unlimited Quite Limited? 04/27/2004 08:16 PM
Last year there was a lot of attention to Comcast's "unlimited" cable modem service that had some very real limits, even if Comcast won't tell you what they are. Despite calls for Comcast to change that policy, they've kept at it. It seems that AT&T Wireless is taking a similar approach. Their recently announced Mobile Internet Unlimited PDA Plan actually appears to have some very real limits. The fine print points out that if you use over 100 MB in two consecutive months, they'll shift you to a much more expensive plan. 100 MB is not very much at all, and it's hardly "unlimited." It seems like that's false advertising.

The new range of innovative jets are called Jetpods and will be used as city-centre air-taxis, personal jets, air ambulances and for military purposes. The Jetpod U-500 UAV has been designed to search for and actually recover one person into an-onboard climatised payload bay area, and in any weather day or night. [PRWEB Oct 26, 2004]

Rio Carbon Limited Edition

Rio Carbon Limited Edition 08/31/2004 07:44 AM

Carbon_LE_Box.jpg imageI'm glad Rio is actually going to push their new 5GB hard disk-based Carbon player a bit instead of just letting it languish in the market - it looks like a pretty solid product (I haven't used it yet). To that end, they're running a special promotion for the first 500 people to order the new $250 player that includes a custom-engraved, numbered back, a free shipping upgrade to 2 day air, and a 3 month/20 track download option from Napster. Oh, and lest we forget, a limited edition collectors box that looks suspiciously like someone else's. It might not be enough to sway undecided purchasers, but if you were already leaning that way, might as well give it a whirl.

Solum on Keenan on "limited times"

Solum on Keenan on "limited times" 03/06/2004 01:51 AM
Lawrence Solum, who has done great work interpreting the text of the Progress Clause (ignored by the Court in Eldred), has an interesting and useful comment on Doug Keenan's effort to interpret the meaning of "limited times." Solum's basic strategy is to interpret "limited" in light of the actors the clause envisions -- authors. What's interesting about that is that it throws into relief the fundamentally important change Congress made when it effectively expanded the reach of "Authors" to include corporations. While there is a "limit" to an Author's life, what is the natural "limit" to a corporation's life?
