Release of the Global Outsourcing Report
03/23/2005 04:45 AMThree-quarters of U.S. companies outsourced some or all of their
information technology activities in 2004, and that percentage is
likely to increase this year, according to a special survey on
outsourcing and offshoring, the Global Outsourcing Report, released
today by Horasis and Going Global Ventures. While a smaller percentage
of companies are outsourcing those activities offshore (32%), half of
them have cut full-time jobs as a result. India is the most
competitive and popular technology outsourcing destination in the
world in 2005, according to the Report, and China will be the No. 1
technology outsourcing country in 10 years. The Global Outsourcing
Report 2005 is the first-of-its-kind report to rank countries based on
the opportunities, costs and risks they present for IT outsourcing,
both now and in the future. [PRWEB Mar 23, 2005]

HR Outsourcing: Big companies are making
the shift from in-house to outsourcing
05/31/2004 01:47 PMAccording to a new study, the world’s largest companies were more
inclined to outsource HR functions in 2003 than in 2002. And if they
weren’t outsourcing at the time of the latest survey, most were
thinking about it. Another finding: Those who are outsourcing are, for
the most part, happy in their choice. However, while outsourcing
increased in many areas, such as 401 K plans and call centers, it
decreased slightly in recruiting. In this article, MedZilla interviews
the survey’s author and reports on its findings. [PRWEB May 28, 2004]

Forget Layoffs, Fire Them For Porn
09/01/2004 01:26 PMOne writer at ZDNet UK is wondering if the porn excuse is being
used as
an alternative to laying people off. There are a growing number
of stories about people losing their jobs for viewing porn on work
computers, but the writer wonders how bad the offenses really are. He
also notes that no one seems to complain when a company gets rid of
people for porn, but layoffs seem like bad news all around. This
seems like a stretch (and also seems to imply that almost anyone you'd
want to layoff has been surfing porn on their work computer), but is
still somewhat amusing. Maybe we'll have a different stat next to
monthly layoffs: "fired for porn."
