KTML Lite 3.1.6 - Demonstrating the
power of online HTML visual editing
02/10/2004 02:42 AM
Submission by Monica Costin This is the first demo release of the KTML3, a professional web editor that will help you edit web pages directly from your browser. This highly reliable tool works both from Internet Explorer or Mozilla/Netscape browsers, on Windows or Mac computers and with PHP, ASP or ColdFusion application servers. It's simply the best HTML editor you can get! And even in this demo version it will bring a lot of value for your websites, as it includes: web content management from its intuitive interface, using clipboard operations, font and size drop-downs, the bold, italic and underline options; perform easy paragraph positioning and aligning, bulleted and numbered lists; use intuitive color pickers, that support both direct selection and hexadecimal code use, for more rigorous design requirements; embed into existing tables pictures or other tables; upload images to the server through a user-friendly interface. New folders can be created to organize images by category; upload files with an upload transaction which is completely safe, thus preventing the upload of potentially dangerous files. Moreover, any programmer that uses KTML3 for websites created in Dreamweaver MX (for the PHP_MySQL, PHAkt2, ASP VB Script and Cold Fusion server models) will be able to use the powerful Server Behavior to visually customize the editor properties. audigyvideoeditorjpg_1_.jpgCreative's announced that their newest USB Sound Blaster Audigy will include video editing capabilities, including hardware encoding and THX Certified 24-bit music playback in as high as 7.1 surround sound. The device lets you connect camcorders, TVs, VCRs and whatever else you can think of through its DV, S-Video, and composite video ins and outs, analog and digital audio in and out and also its built-in 4-port USB hub. Content editing using the device (which includes video editing software) can be converted back to its original source and played back on a TV or VCR. Perhaps recognizing that onboard audio solutions are knocking on Creative's sound processing door, this is an interesting step for Creative to take in diversifying their product line. Available later this year for $385.

Over the past few years, Linux has been hitting Windows hard in different places and, blow by blow, won points against the OS behemoth. Good application software is an important selling point for any operating system, and good development tools are crucial to those writing application software. The leading desktop operating system, Microsoft Windows, has a strong integrated development environment (IDE) in Visual Studio .Net, while the upstart Linux platform's KDE environment has KDevelop. Let's pitch them against each other and see which ends up the last IDE standing.
