Dual core Glenwood, Lakeport chipsets
get Intel airing
09/21/2004 06:41 AMCHIP GIANT Intel has released some details of its dual core Glenwood
and Lakeport chipset to its customers, the original equipment
manufacturers (OEM). And it has also projected a series of its own
Intel motherboards to support the processors, which are slated to
start appearing in the middle of next year. Glenwood chipsts will be
available in lead free second layer interconnect SKUs, supporting
1066/800 system buses, and up to 8GB of dual channel DDR2 667/433.
Lakeport will come in two flavours, G and P. The G denotes next
generation Intel graphics. The Lakeport P will support 1066/800/533
system buses, dual channel DDR again at 667/533, PCI Express X16 and
PCI Express X1, high def audio and will include ICH7. Intel roadmaps
show a plethora of own motherboards based on Glenwood, Lakeport P and
Lakeport G. It's projecting a total of 12 boards with different
feature sets and exotic codenames.

How to Explain Everything
How to Explain Everything
05/22/2004 12:58 AMPart 1: Decisions, Decisions. Are you going to eat out tonight or
cook at home? Will you watch a TV program or read a book? Will you
study something tonight or will you go out with friend? Do you go out
every night or do you save up for a car? Do you get into a
relationship or keep things casual? All of these questions are the
subject of economics. Do you just flip a coin every time you need
to make a decision? Sometimes? Only when there's really no difference
between the choices to you? How do you balance unlimited desires with
limited resources? In the big picture, economics is the study of
choices. While many think of it as the study of making money, it
isn't. It's just that most choices hinge around money because of what
money is, but that's jumping too far ahead. If you want to
understand how the world works -- how you and everyone else make
decisions -- economics provides a lot of insight. This is the first
in a series.

Job Specialization and Why it's hard to
explain what I do...
06/17/2005 04:33 PMEver since switching jobs a while back, one of the questions I'm asked
most often by co-workers and friends I don't see that often is... What
exactly is your job, anyway? The funny thing is that I've never had a
short answer for it. Instead, I have to rattle off a medium sized list
of loosely related things I end up getting involved in. And people
seem generally puzzled at first but eventually say, "oh... that's kind
of cool." Reading...
