Bigfoot in Oklahoma

Bigfoot in Oklahoma 07/29/2004 12:01 PM
Charles Hallmark tracks Bigfoot in the Chickasaw National Park. One of his methods is to place a bag of greasy popcorn bag in a garbage can overnight and then dust for fingerprints. Of course, Hallmark is not the only Bigfoot enthusiast roaming the backwoods, but his description of his own Sasquatch sightings made me smile:
"No muzzle, no tail. Just boing, boing, boing."

How Property Management Software Can

How Property Management Software Can
Help Make Filing Your Taxes Easier
03/14/2005 05:57 PM
Tax time can become very stressful for many real estate investors, it is a time when you need to get all your financials in order to present to the government for your yearly tax filings. Many investors try to manually work through their incomes and expenses on paper, going through numerous receipts, checks, etc. The job becomes very tedious and error prone, potentially leading to tax filing errors and the hence the dreaded tax audits. The good news is that there are better alternatives, mainly in the form of property management software. These software applications can really help speed up your tax filings, and not only that, they can also give you additional reports that can assist you in getting better returns from your investment properties. Offering Incentives To Get People To Buy
Into Copy Protection Experience

Offering Incentives To Get People To Buy
Into Copy Protection Experience
11/10/2003 11:01 PM
The latest company to jump on the CD copy protection bandwagon is Sony who will be selling new CDs with copy protection in Germany. They say, though, that they're offering this CD with added incentives to make people want to buy it. This is a little bit good, but mostly very bad. The little bit of good is the slow realization that if you're selling music on CDs, you've got to add additional incentives with it to make it worth buying the actual CD. This Sony system is offering access to bonus songs and concert tickets - but only if you have the CD. The rest is all bad. The copy protection makes the value of the CD go way down by taking away the many uses that people expect to get from their CD. To listen to the music on a computer, you have to use Sony software or Sony music players. Instead of using standards that everyone agrees on, here we have yet another different standard and different format for music. This is making life much worse for the consumer by setting up a world where you have to make an early bet on which company you want to supply your music and then live with it for the rest of your life. If the incentive to buy the CD is access to additional access or materials, then why not do that separate from the copy protection?

“Father” of Mac platform aims to make
computers easier to use
01/05/2005 07:26 PM
Jef Raskin, credited with being the “father” of the Macintosh computer and former Apple employee #31, has recently obtained $2 million in start up funding to make computers easier to use. Raskin is featured today in an article by the California-based Pacifia Tribune. "We formed the Raskin Center for Humane Interface," he says. "And we have been funded by a multi-national corporation for $2 million. Our plan is to work out of this office to show the world how to make computers much easier to use." Raskin wrote the groundbreaking book, "The Humane Interface," which has now been translated into dozens of languages and is part of most university computer courses. The new business is an offshoot of the philosophical work begun in the book. Raskin's concept involves "unified" computer programs. Instead of multiple applications that must be "opened" before they can be used, Raskin's model allows a computer user to simply shift between word processing, spread sheets, photo manipulation, and just about everything else through simple "command sets." His new project also involves his son, Aza, a 20-year-old college student. With an eye to the reality of the business world, Aza says the purpose of the Raskin Center for Humane Interface won't be to put computer companies out of business, it will "save them money in technical support." The Raskins say they are confident that the Raskin Center for Humane Interface will be offering the world an authoritative product within 18 months.
